i found this poem on another site i wanted to share it Dear Sirs, I have type 1 diabetes.Which is a chronic, life threatening disease. I am one of millions, who have to inject ourselves everyday. Trying our best to stop horrible complications coming our way.Im sure if you looked on the internet you would find out what they are. I've lived almost 13 years with diabetes, some haven't made it this far.Think of the little children, babies really. So young , yet living life so courageously..Growing up, facing an uncertain future.Living life now, not waiting till they are older. Everyday having to deal with things they shouldn't at their age.Hoping for an end to this disease they did not choose, and cannot change. Now think of their parents. imagine having to inject your infant, having to inject them, just to keep them alive.Having to console them when tears run from their eyes. Staying up to check leveles all hours of the night.Scared that you might find a number that could cause them to lose their sight. Please understand what we have to fight. Everyday trying to get our levels and carb intake right. Eveyday injecting, hoping that our futures will be bright . Hoping that we won't get complications and lose our limbs, or our sight. Please understand these children's plight. And help keep the flame of hope alright. Dear Sirs, please do not pity me or any other for what we have to face. But please understand that we need your help to express our case. Please help educate the ill-informed, ignorant and unaware.S o that if this happens one day to them, they will be prepared.Let them know this is not a death sentence .It's a inspiration towards life, not a hindrance… i found this on another diabetes site it was titled poem to the media

I know what is like feeling that you could loose something that your body needs. I have been down that road before and its never fun. But I am thankful to be alive and to share my stories

That brought tears to my eyes! I hate the generations coming up and those not even born yet that will have to deal with this awful disease! I would do anything so that not one more child had to live with diabetes!!!! Renee :)
