Good for you! well I exercise everyday just for me. Some days I try to do more than that. sometimes just listening to lots of my fave upbeat music which I am doing now. sometimes I will have a 'naughty' treat LOL…something that I know I should not eat, or too much of something I should eat in moderation.

OK Harlen,

You left my outhouse door wide open! :o) Today is my 69th birthday and the lottery is tonight - all mine, I presume. Hey, old men can dream, right? But I'm not holding my breath. What I want to do for myself is to get a National brand 12 string tricone resonator guitar w/elec. pickup and with the crysanthemum engraving. See my profile, the last picture of one of those musical beasts without the engraving.

So I have to wait until the lottery results tonight OR await your liberal donations to the "Tony ol' farts guitar Fund." LOL

Tony5657 anxiously awaiting your generous donations OR your sympathy cards

Hmmmm, this is good advice. I have not done anything just for me in a LONG time...I think I will go find a nice book and curl up for an hour or two.

griz104 2010-03-20 12:57:18 -0500 Report

That would be spending a day on a creek doing a bit of Steelhead fishing..i sometimes just go to be alone and on the really nice days will just sit under a big tree and do a bit of reading..I usually Fly Fish for them and find it is about as relaxing as it can get for me.

Thanks, it helped to share my concerns, instead of being told, "Oh, things could be worse—etc—" which is usually what I hear around here, so am developing a new set of friends! haha—Here and those at the Wellness Center—-are all pretty much in the same boat, so that helps too!! Yow, I am shining again, just had to do some thinking for a bit, but life is good once more, —-what is that saying, God will see you thru what he leads you to—-or something—Not the best at remembering sayings or jokes, but can still laugh when I read someone elses!

As for your court date, it seems somewhat familiar—-GOOD LUCK in it and all that you do!! I planted some garden in barrels this week, the sun shone, so I did too! haha—I will share my multi-colored lettuces!! lol, Pat Roth

Gee—move to KS, I get an hour for $50, maybe because there is less stress in KS, and fewer people with good paying jobs.

I have been doing something good for me as the weather warms up, working outside in the DIRT! Am recycling trash cans, old feeders, put in my own, plus boughten soil—-did this last year too, so just added cotton seed compost and manure to the large containers, and planted onions, lettuce, radishes, peas—-need to get my seed potatoes cut and dried. I love variety so got 3 kinds of lettuce—one red, then mixed the seeds, got 3 colors of potatoes, I love those Yukon Gold as they look like lots of butter has been added but it hasn't. I have finally gotten so I can eat white pot. without shooting my BS out of sight—but still check, just to make sure—-

Watching the various birds coming in for the spring, Robins amonst them, Jack said he even saw Orioles, RARE here—-today was cloudy and chilly so stayed inside and finished getting our taxes ready so now I am FREE for the next nice day! I always feel so GOOD when I drag in from a gardening chore, cleaning debris off of last years' goodies—-take a warm bath and sleep good, after a bit of ointment here and there! haha—lol, Pat Roth

I play a cheap Korean acoustic that is on par with a decent Yamaha. I also play an Ibanez RG270 with the Floyd Rose tremelo. I spend the most time playing my Schecter Deluxe 4 bass. I have a nine year old that, we have been told, has "obstructive deviancy disorder" and ADHD. I think they keep making up names for conditions that they cannot explain. I also have a five year old who unable to be clinically diagnossed yet, is just like his sister. Ialso have an 11 year old who on most accounts is a good kid, and a brand new 8 month old baby. The point is through all the drama of everyday life, the main thing I can do for myself is take diligent care of my disease. So I can be here through all the drama, and maybe sneek in a great experience with the family. And don't forget the bubble bath everynight with all is quiet. My granddaughter has ADD, she is not hyper, but can't concentrate. She has also been dx with Asperger. I was visiting there once when she was in 1st or 2nd grade. On Fri. her mother wanted her to do her homework, in order to get it out of the way for the week-end. I could see she really didn't want to do it then, so I offered to help her on Sat. She had a list of sentences to read, and then had to answer if the statement was true or false. One of the sentences was about riding on a bus, she said this was false. When I questioned her about this, she very logically said you ride in a bus, not on it. I let it ride, and told her father that she was probably going to get marked down for that, but I didn't have the heart to tell her she was wrong. And she did understand what she read, which was the purpose of the homework. She is now 15, a very bright, but socially inept teen-ager.

greeneyedghost 2010-03-05 15:07:48 -0600 Report

I understand what you are saying about the social part… my daughter's have a problem in that area as well. But.. I work daily with them on social skills and we practice them. It takes a lot of work everyday for the rest of their lives. I understand what you are saying how the sentence seemed wrong, but it's the logical thinking side they have and it can be right. With ADHD and aspergers and autism and many other similar problems it takes a lot of time and energy and patience and constant ideas to work with them. Here are some sites for those interested in learning more about it:

All of these sites have a great deal of information and ways to deal with these disorders/syndromes..I found that being very involved with my children has helped the most. I was hesitant to think this was real for them.. because like one other said below.. they do try to name children with diff things when they can't explain it or a parent can't understand them. I was very skeptical until I went to therapy with my oldest for a long time since she was 7 and she is now 16 and now I do the same for my 8 year old whom Ive been involved with her treatment and/or daily ways to help them succeed since she was 4. I was very hesitant to give my kids meds as well. It is not the best thing for all of them. The symptoms have to be severe… SEVERE.. to consider this option, otherwise just a lot of working with them going to classes to learn about this, researching, and letting your child teach you. Hope this has been helpful to others. My main thing I say is work work work with them daily .. stay in touch with the inner them.. figure out what sets them off into places that you seem to not be able to get them out of… and teach them ways they understand to cope with the day to day annoyances and hardships of being social and properly. Also.. many people mistake those ADHD, ASPERGERS SYNDROME, AUTISM, ETC. as dumb, stupid, and not able to learn… in fact THEY ARE SMARTER THAN MOST PPLS AND are highly intelligent.. it's just a matter of getting it out of them in a constructive way and a safe way for them and others. Ok .. Ive blabbed enough.. lol. Nicki

When asked who was her favorite author she said John Steinbeck and Jack London. This at an age when most teen-agers read Harry Potter or the vampire books. This shows she is highly intelligent. As for Steinbeck I think she relates to some of the outcasts in his books.

I don't have any issues, but her sentence of riding IN the bus, makes perfect sense to me—sigh—sometimes the rest of us get too literal and the handicapped can give us a different way of looking at what we take for granted. In our church study group we are studying about 40 days in the Wildness , and NOT having any yeast in the house—one dear woman argued that it also said, "None in the territory", or something similar, didn't think that they could just "dump it on the ground" as that would be in their territory—-taking it too literal, I think, of just not using any yeast to make bread. period—to each his own and she kept arugueing that she was right—-not that it really matters—-just one person's personal concept. And she is a very intelligent woman—-just too bogged down, I think—lol, PR

I have a son that has adhd, they do not outgrow it. You need to contain them as soon as you can so you survive their childhood. I can suggest things that worked for me if you pm me-it is a very difficult problem. All 3 of my kids have handicaps, all different, all grown, but still problems. My twins-oldest has adhd, youngest was born with some assembly required, my daughter is severely processing impaired, stick me with a fork, I am done.
But I do have some things that were effective, depending on the age.
