Okay, I have a question about all this noise about diabetes. Are we the only ones who do not get help with insurance? do people with cancer and others diseases get help? I am not up on all this stuff, but am willing to help out. but I need to know some facts so I dont get pie in my eye.
I know that i am going thru a nasty divorce and all my medications and "stuff" will be costing me out of pocket well over 400 $'s a month. I have no insurnace unless the court says I can stay on his.
I sometimes feel like the insurance companies are punishing us for getting diabetes and High blood pressure and heart disease. They must all have people in their lives that have one affliction or another. So, how will screaming help us when so many others need it also? Thier frame of mind will be, ans probably is, if we help you, then everyone will want help! And what is it that we are screaming for? Help with meds and "stuff" or help with insurance? Just fill me in with the facts, and I will join the cause.

I don't know the answer, but I found this site for the OK pool.
http://okhrp.org/. Also try the university health dept for help and information.

Good luck to you and your daughter.

well diva we need to write our congressmen…We are not screaming loud enough it seems…or perhaps just not enough of us are screaming…

I believe so many feel it just won't do any good..but this is wrong laws have been changed …because of the people not accepting what is handed out to them…the way the diabetic community is being treated is beyond me…Its all about prevention…I am not even sure if most people understand the difference between diabetes 1 and 2…education …prevention..and managing…

sometimes I feel we are becoming like cattle…being led to the slaughter.

My grandmother said .." The squeaky wheel always gets the grease ! " giggle

I believe this…

WHat kind of pump does your daughter have? Smith medical that handles Cozmore has a patient assistance program. MimiMed does NOT. They won't help anyone. Like a car saleman, "they don't know you after the sale." Her endocrinologist also keeps a supply of pump supplies. Maybe they would help. We have a huge closet in our office with tons of pump supplies that are given to us by the pump companies. Sloan

hey sloan…My daughter does not have one yet…the doctor has spoken to her and said she needs one now especially since she is off on her own…she told her about this one that has a monitor that connects to it…they work together…said this is the best..I cant remember the name..he never spoke with her about any help or having a pump that she could use…just told her the monitor is not covered…I will ask her to find out if he can help…they do the training there ..so this is good…It seems most everyone just cares about the bottom line making a buck..Its scary…thank you so much for the info…need all the help we can get…
