My mom and I are both diabetics. We both recieved the reg seasonal and the h1n1 shot. Niether of us had any problems with either. I dont know about my mom but I just felt a tad tired for a few hours after but that is the only problem I had.

I took the H1N1 shot in October and so did all members of my family. We all did fine with it. This is my theory on the H1N1 vaccine…I know of a lot, a lot of people who died from H1N1 flu…no one I know of has died from the H1N1 vaccine.

I don't think I'll be getting this one…too many ??s about the safety.

It's the same vaccine as the seasonal flu, just a different strain. If they had isolated it a few weeks earlier it would have been in the seasonal vaccine. Interesting how there hasn't been anything about the vaccine in the news for months after all the hype.

Had the shot. Had no reaction to it. Also get the flu shot every year. I get so sick if I even get a cold I don't want to take any chances of getting the flu.

Have you ever asked your doctor to check your vitamin D levels? Chances are they're too low. Most north American's are, and diabetes is an additional drain on your reserves. www.grassrootshealth.net is an international study going on right now that has reams of info if you're interested. We've been doing mega-doses (6,500 IU for me) this year, and we've only had two light colds. Kids used to miss a week of school each month in the winter.

I'm going to talk to doc next time I'm in. Have heard this from several people on this site. But had never heard of it before here!!

I don't recall anyone checking my Vitamin D levels. I take it in Viactiv Calcium Supplements. I don't know the dosage. I'll look into this.

I haven't heard of that sort of reaction. I guess it's possible that the immune response to the vaccine played havoc with your blood sugars. In the 3 days after you had the vaccine what were your blood sugars running? Did you notice a sudden or slow rise or did the DKA come totally out of the blue?

I won't touch that vaccine (or the flu for that matter), nor has anyone in my extended family.

Why? I haven't had the H1N1 vaccine either but there isn't really anything bad about the seasonal vaccine or the supplemental H1N1.

I just feel that if my body is getting the nutrition it needs, especially vitamin D, my immune system can handle viruses like these. And so far (at least for the last 20 years), I've been right. Anytime my mother and her brother get a flu vaccine, they get terribly ill. They've skipped it for several years now and no flu.

I wasn't going to get the H1N1 flu shot as I am not in the target age group, but since I will be going to Mexico later this month I decided to get one. I went grocery shopping today and the pharmacy there was giving the shots. So I got one, strange getting a shot in a store. I get a flu shot every year and haven't even had a bad cold in ages. And I have never had any bad reaction to any of the shots. And I also recently got a vaccine for shingles.
