My friend, let's call her Angel, is single. She broke up with (or is sposed to have) her married boyfriend of 13 years. She has been on 2 dates with men from a dating site, Fishbowl, or some such thing…not e-Harmony or Match .com…her 2 dates follow…

I've been happily married (second time) for ten years, but I had some real doozies of dates before and after first marriage. One guy described himself as a Mick Jagger (from Rolling Stones) look alike. OMG - he had big lips like MJ but he was 6 ft =/- and weighed about 125# =/-. OK I'm in healthcare so I took one look and thought, J****, M***, J***** - is this guy dying of cancer? Turned out he was a diabetic, Type I, who thought he had discovered way to live without insulin. Serious "issues"..made my skin crawl…I think he thought I was too fat LOL so no love at first sight. I doubt he is still alive today which is actually kind of sad.

So. I was going on a date with this guy Travis. He calls me 30 mins before hand and said hes bringing his best friend (who happens to be a gay man) … So I decided well..3's a crowd, why not make it 4 so theres no third wheel. I'm bringing my gay best friend too, who knows maybe he will really like Travis' friend. So We later found out..he brought his friend because Travis, was 26 with no drivers license, so his 18 year old friend drove him around… yea… real nice. So we went to a mexican resturant for dinner..then to some hole in the wall bar to shoot pool…but Travis thought it would be more fun to chase the rest of us around with the blue powder that you use on the pool sticks on his finger trying to wipe it on us. I thought I was out with a 7 year old…BUT I tried to remind my self "atleast he's cute!". Then they dropped us off and he made his friend wait in the car for 30 minutes..because Travis wanted to meet my MOTHER… I was like whoaa akward…First date and he wants to meet my parents?…ook.

ANYWAYS…Later that night I get a call from a friend who knew all 4 of us… and he says "OMG Kira?.. Please tell me this thing with Travis isnt serious!" I said "Psh no not at all, why?" And my friend procedes to tell me "Well were all at Dennys..and someone just walked in on Travis and his friend in the bathroom…doing…stuff."

So yea.. I def didn't answer his call after that day!

Sorry for Angel. Having a married boyfriend for so long is just wasting time. Married boyfriends are always lying, and those relationships are never good as trust is missing most of the time.
Me too, I was on a dating site several years ago and made some bad experiences.I met one guy who was very nice and friendly by email. When we met for the first date, we went to a restaurant in DC. I drove there alone following him in my car, as I did not want him to know my home address yet. When we were in the restaurant he started to work on my legs underneath the tablecloth and I asked him to stop. He didn't and I wanted to scream. So, I found a way to go to the bathroom before dinner and left without returning to the table.
Guess most guys on the dating sites are just looking for a one-night stand.

I've been trying to help her break off with him…I tell her she is an addict and he is cocaine…she doesn't want to die. Hasn't helped. She went out to lunch with him yesterday, and then a walk. At least she didn't hop back into bed with him. Small steps!

Maybe MANY guys are, Petra, but certainly not ALL guys are! If not for a dating website I wouldn't have met my bride. Personally I was definitely not looking for ONS, because I KNEW that they would not be satisfying for me. My new bro-in-law also met his new signifgant other online too. I've heard of many others who've found lasting love online.

Personally I DID have some hurdles to clear with Jem because of the way guys are looking for ONS. On the other hand, I had been treated badly by women online too, so it goes both ways.

Personally I don't think I would have found my Jem, OR ANYBODY by dating in the "real" world because of I am a painfully shy person at first in person. I am different online, and once I get to know someone in the real world, then I loosen up, especially if I get the feeling that someone likes me.

Thanks for the information. Me too, I am kind of a shy person and certainly not going out to bars to find someone. There are so many dating sites and I am not sure where to look. Perhaps someone can give me some advice where I could find the good ones. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I met my new husband on cupid.com. I was not looking for marriage just someone to do things with like go to the movies etc. We chatted online for a couple of weeks, then by phone and finally when I was ready we spent the day fishing which is something both of us enjoyed and it was a great way to talk all day and not have the pressure of dressing up and being uncomfortable. I had also just had a motorcycle accident and was bruised, scratched and cut up. So it was a little scary to meet a guy looking like that. But he was understanding and still teases me about that accident. When we were chatting he was honest about himself, sometimes butally honest and I was honest with him. We became really good friends and enjoy doing the same things. We have been together for 3 years and got married on New Years Eve. There are nice guys out there they are just really hard to find the good in all the bad. Just have to keep trudging through the muck to get to the golden valley. :-).

Well Petra, I met my "Jem" (my pet name for my bride) on Dating4Disabled.com. [Link: http://dating4disabled.com/ ] (Yes, diabetes is listed there as a disability - but both Jem & I had more medical "Challenges" going on than just D) in fact you can go there and look me up under my DC screen name and read our story. The neat thing is that D4D is COMPLETELY free. D4D is getting big enough where there can be a pretty good selection of people. (Wasn't the case when I signed up about 5 years ago - pretty slim pickins then) D4D has some articles on being safe online dating (as I recall) that is worth reading.

Also I was on another completely free Dating site is plentyoffish.com [ link: http://www.plentyoffish.com/ ] and I met several ladies through them.

I had tried e-harmony, but it was too soon after my divorce and I really wasn't ready to date even though at the time I thought I was. As one of the ladies I corresponded with through e-harmony said. "I paid all this money to have guys reject me" and I had to agree that it was the same with me.

Hope it helps you a bit, Petra.

Well it's late and Jem is calling me to bed. LoL! It's a tough job but SOMEBODY's gotta do it LoL!

PLENTY OF FISH.com was where Angel met her "great" dates. I would try James' other suggestions. Keep us in the loop, ok? Good luck. S2

Guy #1:

So you know that I am on a dating website…so I met one of the men…how shall I describe him? Tall…big…belly big…really big…wearing a flashy antique car printed shirt tucked into slacks held up by a brown belt. We met at Coco's…for coffee…he hugged me upon meeting me…yuck…then we were seated and I ordered chocolate milk…he read the menu…item by…item…by item..page by page…5 pages Sue 5 over and up and down, meanwhile I am sitting there looking at him and he doesn't notice that I am sitting back in my seat just staring in bewilderment. No sounds but the turning of the pages and an occasional hmm maybe so by the time this is over and he decides on which DINNER he is ordering I have finished my milk. I ask for a single scoop hot fudge sundae (suddenly feeling the need for vast quantities of chocolate) he tells the waitress to bring me the big one. I say no the single and he contradicts me…Yikes!
I don't even know what he ordered ( I had settled into a numb state of zen) until she puts down a flour quesadilla, he offers me some, I decline. He eats and between each bite he wipes his mouth. I have time to reflect on why he is so big when…
The food arrives it is a Parmesan Chicken with Cesar Salad which she places near the middle of the table (she must have thought we were sharing it) so he starts to eat off the plate (anywhere in this did I say he moved the plate near him? NO, I DID NOT!! ) I sit there like a kid at a freak show staring in disbelief while he chows down his grub from the middle of the table…
Finally the manager comes over to ask if we will settle the tab since they are closed…HURRAY
We go outside and he hugs me again…nice time…yeah yeah nice…blah blah blah…then in a moment of apparent passion he lightly grabs my left butt cheek and then the right…WOW-WOW…
Two questions:
Is it okay to say leave me alone in an email
Comparatively speaking is the married man really that bad???

Guy # 2

Nice dinner out, so 2nd date…

Okay Mr I thought he was normal is a nut. He just left here and said that aliens speak to him through his fire detectors and when I asked how they do it they told him that they have a ship hovering over his house. This was followed by a LOT of profanity and saying she is deleting her profile from this "F****** nut finder internet"…

I was ROFL over the first guy and shaking my head in bewilderment over the second. She can really pick them!

There was 1 more, but he flaked out or something…so

Top Angel's dates…
