I am so sorry that you are still having bad days—-has there been some improvementsince your trip to Mayos? Anything for too long makes the days dreary—-Hope you can feel stronger, soon!! Hugs, Pat R

I am on a trial treatment due to my complications with the typical treatment..its difficult and my system is having trouble adjusting to the loads of things I am taking…All to hopefully have a tiny rise in my hemaglobin…all I can say is even if its working…I wont feel differently for quite a long while since is a road that will increase me at a snails pace apparently, if at all…I return to the local hospital Thursday for follow up…and then we will conference with Mayo on my results and what to do from here…(if changes are needed etc)…

Just a bit of a concern—-got another call from the Harper Hospital this eve, the radiologist wants another cat scan and more lab next week, about Tues—-says there are lesions in my lung. Does this mean the same as nodules and densities that they mentioned last month? I am trying to ignore the whole thing, but have to admit that this eve kinda got to me—am extra tired too, not ready for more—at least I don't hurt!! Pat R

Roy531 2010-03-12 22:54:46 -0600 Report

Pat, I will pray that God will embrace you with His Love, and that He will give you strength.

imsuzie2 2010-03-13 01:25:06 -0600 Report

Pat, love the new picture! They had been concerned with Mike's chest X-ray last year, and ordered the Cat Scan that found the kidney cancer by lucky coincidence. His Cat Scan showed scaring, possibly something that can turn into COPD if he doesn't quit smoking cigars (he started again last month)…think scaring from your COPD, ok? Hugs…more angels are coming!!!

Nova69 2010-03-13 05:56:10 -0600 Report

Hopefully, it's just some sort of scarring. That's what happened to my mother-in-law. In any event, you'll be in my prayers this week.

Pat Roth 2010-03-13 10:59:23 -0600 Report

Thanks for all of your support—this is new to me—-I did look up on the internet last night, didn't see much but it did say that lesions/nodules/densities are fairly frequent and most are benign, but if one has had cancer, they have to be checked more frequently.

I guess one reason I am sad is that I have been regaining my strength and was looking forward to DOING MORE—but I still am better off than I was, still use my oxygen all night, and that seems to help—if I do much then I struggle to breathe, yet it is better—so—-my dad died of Lung cancer at 83 years, and I am still 77 yrs so should have a few years left, then he also smoked a LOT and I never have, so that is a plus.

Thanks for giving me a place to voice my concerns, as after I vent, I FEEL LIGHTER! I am not alone——hugs, Pat R

Pat Roth 2010-03-16 14:38:56 -0500 Report

My cat scan of the lung is over, will know more in a week—-gave me just half of the dye, but my creatinine was still top of NORMAL—-1.5, so am not concerned as I would call that stable—-the numbers aren't all over the place, so think I am in pretty good shape for the shape I am in!! This is the third cat scan, plus one MRI of my chest in 6 mos, so feel that this one will surely determine if that little feller is growing—-gradually am getting stronger so—-must be OK!! YEAH—Garden, here I come!! Pat R

I have a total of 9 of them and only 2 works well 3 now. Oldest daughter has one of them she will probley keep it. I want an old machine with a treadmill I dont care if it works or not.

I had an old Singer treadle (I guess that's what you're talking about when you say "treadmill") when living in LV with my ex. Beautiful machine and cabinet, and it worked well too! Bought it in Nebraska in '80 or '81 for $25. Of course my ex kept it. Ex just loved to sew and had 2 or 3 machines herself plus a serger I all of which I had bought her.

Things Not To Say During Childbirth…
— Gosh, you're lucky. I sure wish men could experience the miracle of childbirth.

— Do you think the baby will come before Monday Night Football starts?

— I hope your ready. The Glamour Shot photographer will be here in fifteen minutes.

— If you think this hurts, I should tell you about the time I twisted my ankle playing basketball.

— That was the kids on the phone. Did you have anything planned for dinner?

— When you lay on your back, you look like a python that swallowed a wild boar.

— You don't need an epidural. Just relax and enjoy the moment.

— This whole experience kind of reminds me of an episode from I Love Lucy.

— Oops! Which cord was I supposed to cut?

— Stop your swearing and just breathe.

— Remember what we learned in Lamaze class! HEE HEE HOO HOO. You're not using the right words.

— Your stomach still looks like there's another one in there.

Any guilty?? :) :)

Sometimes even moms don't know the right things to say or do, during delivery—-I lovingly reached over our oldest daughter, to give her a loving back rub—thinking it would help to relieve her pain. NOT!! I still laugh—She screamed." Don't touch me!!" And of course I KNEW just what she meant, sorry that I didn't think ahead of time, but during those minutes—-breathing in and out—hee—haa—isn't as meaningful as the cuss words! hah

One woman I knew came out of the delivery room moaning, "Oh, why did Adam eat the apple?! " I thought it was very appropriate, and wondered how she could even think of anything funny at the time! I am glad that those days are over, but love al 4 that I had!! That is being a mom! Pat R

Danni-the-diabetic 2010-03-02 22:46:34 -0600 Report

"why did Adam eat the apple" lmbo, classic!

My friend Krista was just telling me tonight how her boyfriend was rubbing her shoulder and she told him to get away from her…she said she wanted her mom there instead. I thought that was sweet :)

Like I told my girlfriend tonight. There is somr thing wrong with my hubby. He really is acting weird. I got 3 kisses and it not even Wed yet. He does the dishes all time. I am not the only one who uses them I tell them. Son still lives here and he is layed off. 31yrs this june and together33. Just wish it could be better. Ya we have had are hard times. We do go on vaction together and do get along. So glad I have girl friend to vent to. They listen and do not try to fix things. That is what I need. I am just not getting him at all. I have my own room. Sewing room/computer room that is. If you all really knew you would be shocked. He acts just like he dont care. When My grandms pass away and I was crying he didnt even put his arm around me. What gives. Some times I just feel like running away.

Roy531 2010-03-03 06:20:02 -0600 Report

Some men are afraid to show emotion, it isn't manly. They were taught that as children, "MEN DON'T CRY" some stay with that all their life. I wasn't raise like that but know people that was.

Danni-the-diabetic 2010-03-03 06:29:09 -0600 Report

I do too. I threatened my friend that if he ever told his son that I would kick his butt…he laughed. But still, you don't say that to kids.

This made me laugh! I have never heard the Adam & Eve story having Adam blamed for eating the apple. It's always Eve's fault for offering it! I just got a kick out of the twist.

salmanda 2010-03-03 07:18:43 -0600 Report

Very funny Jim! You can always be depended on for a good laugh…thank you!
The basketball one reminded me of the summer I was 7 months pregnant and sick with a cold that went into an infection requiring antibiotics. We were at camp which always meant my husband's family coming up on a daily basis. That meant I was always busy cooking for them because they were high school boys and friends. Needless to say I didn't need to be doing all that, but back then men didn't pitch in, and I was exhausted.
The next week my husband caught my cold and was complaining like he was dying! I told him I knew how he felt because I had already had the same cold. He had the nerve to tell me I couldn't have been as sick because I had been so busy all week! Wrong thing to say!!!! LOL To this day, I am amazed he lived after that comment. Looking back now, I just shake my head and chuckle.
Sal :)

Roy531 2010-03-03 07:26:34 -0600 Report

You know, My ex was like that, nobody could ever be a sick or hurt as much as she did. You could have the same illness but hers was always worse than yours.

Danni-the-diabetic 2010-03-03 18:02:12 -0600 Report

I had an ex like that…but it was more emotional and manipulation.
My roommate though, she likes to tell me everytime she is not feeling well, which is fine but we have been passing a cold back and forth to eachother and when I am sick and sugars soaring she begs me to go out with her to help with the kids, when she is sick I take care of the kids. I also laugh about it instead of lol "walking out on her".

Danni-the-diabetic 2010-03-03 18:40:22 -0600 Report

Aww Roy, I wasn't implying that all. I was meaning walk out on her as a roommate and I guess I put it in quotations because we were talking about ex's and usually when you say your walking out on someone it refers to an ex. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
:) Danni
