I'm watching the Olympics…now it is the Mens Figure Skating long program.

You are competing in the Winter Olympics…what is your sport, and how are you doing? Are you representing the US, Australia (CC) or other country. What is your specialty to give you the edge?

I tried sking once. Do you know the bunny hill is REALLY scary! It took me an hour to inch my way down it. Living here in WA I should be a speed skater. All the good one Apollo ohno & that JR kid) are from here.

A mean trick to beginners on the bunny sope. As they approach the tow rope and get into position, tell them to grab the rope as strong as they can…then run.

I want to watch Apollo skate. I watched him in the last Olympics and on Dancing With the Stars. He won with Julianne Hough.

Yeah I've been watching him the last few Olympics He makes it look so easy. It's so much more fun to cheer on a person then a team!

Ice skating ,when I was younger we lived in Detroit Mi.Not the best in the world, could skate forward and backward,no figure eights or jumps but it was good fun and exercise. Now could not even stand in a pair.Oh well for the old and healthier days.

I was very good on throwing buckets of water on the road just before a side street. Then watching the cars slide past when they hit the ice. Also good on rolling large snowman size snowballs on same road to impede traffic. p.s. not legal in all states.

One halloween I was hanging around with my brothers. The next street from us had electric busses with overhead electric wires. My brothers took a rope, tied a rock on one end and threw it over the wires. I was standing there and they said run. But I wanted to stay and see what would happen when the bus came by. Of course it would get stuck when it pushed this rope to the intersection of the electirc wire and the wire holding it up. They grabbed me and pulled me away, the cops would come when the bus got stuck. I still wish I could have stayed and watched them try to get the rope down. I couldn't see what fun it was if we didn't see that.

It sounds dangerous for the riders. Hope no one was hurt. I remember when we had a "bus" that had an electric wire with 1 rod reaching up. I was in elementary school. All of a sudden they were gone. Don't remember the conversion…

Even though I was raised in the cold midwest, I never liked cold weather sports. When I tried skating, I skated on my ankles. Since I live in a very flat area, skiing was not available. I did like swimming, but would hate to try that in winter. When I was young there were very few indoor swimming pools.

Hey, USA, USA, USA. The men's figute skating was phenominal!! Almost all the men skated their hearts out.

lol suzs. i tried ice skating but mainly skated on my behind. same with skiing. totally unco! if there is a category for that - funniest unco moments on ice i would probably give the competition a run for their money.

but hey did you see an australian won gold at halfpipe snowboarding. we dont have live telecast.:(

donna13 2010-02-19 10:09:56 -0600 Report

I didn't see that - congratulations to all of you "down under". (By the way do you say we are down under?) I can't watch the half pipe - it makes me too nervous.

We are in the same time zone as Vancouver and still watch it tape at nite in prime time…I would think instead of "Down Under" we would be "Up Yonder"…And, I did see it, twice. She is beautiful, and as I understand it, her brother is her coach. Way to go, Australia!!!!

Do they have a cooking category?

imsuzie2 2010-02-19 17:21:17 -0600 Report

Since it is OUR OLYMPICS, I say yes, Winter Cooking…soups, hot drinks, etc. Cook off with Roy, Harlen, Gail, Avira and some others. Join in Elrond. What is your dish?? I do a pretty good soup in the crock pot. I just might enter this year.

I have no winter talents…again, bathroom is not a category! Neither is gift-wrapping, my talent. Grew up in Southern Cal, didn't see snow until '89, a freak snow storm. Ice skated once…help me out team…
