I'm bipolar also and want to share some of my experience since I found it really affects how I take care of myself. When I'm manic, I convince myself I don't need meds and go off them then crash into depression. When I'm depressed I think "what's the use?" I started with a new psychiatrist over a year ago who was the first to tell me that antidepressants cause depression in a bipolar person. She got me off them and got me balanced on the right meds. But I found out the hard way that certain bipolar meds can increase my sugar so be cautious of that and make sure your doctor knows. I also continue with a therapist who is teaching me to recognize the swings and cut them off sooner. Both ends affect my thinking and behavior so much and I'm tired of it. I'm new to diabetes and know they must be connected a lot. I hope you can get both managed soon. Don't give up. It's a lot of work, but then, I don't like the alternatives.

Welcome to Diabetic Connect !

What does your doctor or dietician suggest that you do concerning this, do they have a special diet or meal plan for you?
Are you in any type of therapy to help combat or control this ?
This would seem to be a very unhealthy situation \ combination.
