Hi, is there anyone out there with diabetes and addison's disease? I think they bounce off of each other and make each other worse. (just a thought) My sugars are sky high, my last A1C was 8.1 and my fasting sugars are around 199 or so. I think it's the hydrocortozone. I'm now on Novalog and Lantus 30 units each. I'm feeling better now. It's amazing how much better I've been feeling. (now I've got a low grade temp) Lupus or RA is now acting up again. Seems like I get one thing under control and something else goes haywire! My next Endo appointment got canceled and got put to the 16th instead of the 8th. So I'll have to wait to see what happened on my blood tests. Before I started taking the Novalog I was so depressed, I didn't even realize how depressed I was until my first shot of Novalog. Wow, I suddenly felt better! I think Depression and Diabetes must go hand in hand. My Depression is getting better and better every day. My fasting sugars have been around the mid 80's now and I haven't gone over 200 during the day for three days or so. I just have to say I'm so glad my new endo knows what he's doing! Spoke too soon, my sugars are now going over 200 again starting last night. My Other Dr. thinks it's a reaction to the reduction of my hydrocortosone. I've gone from 40 to 30 mgs. She thinks that's why my temp starting going up too.

I have Type 1 Diabetes, Addison's Disease and Hypothyroidism. They do complicate each other. I stay sick a lot. Do you crave gatorade or is that just me? Also do you stay tan year round? I am the same color all over so it looks like i get spray tans! Addison's is no fun so I should get something good out of it!

I have a good friend who has Addison's. She is t2. She is my hero, dealing with the nasty stress of work, her diabetes and Addison's. I hope someone here can help. Hugs

well, I guess nobody out there has addison's and diabetes or at least no one has seen my question yet. I see my new Indo tomorrow and I'm kinda excited and nervous at the same time. I hope he dosen't want to re-diagnose me again like everyone else. (It takes so much time to do).

I don't have any records with me. But I do have my sugars written down for a week and I'll tell him about my tests and stuff. I'm getting ready now to go. I think my Dr. sent him my records. I'll let you know how it all goes. Have a good day at work Suzie! Don't let em get you down! Loves and Hugs Liz aka "Heaven"

Well, all's well that ends well Suzie. I went to the new Indo and I liked him pretty well. He didn't rely on my records from any other Drs. He took my history and beleived me. He took my family history too. (As he should) He saw connections other Drs. hadn't seen and he thinks I'm a type 1 now. He's gonna do the usual blood tests for Addison's and C peptides to see if I am a type 1. He's having me discontinue the glyburide and having me take fast acting insulin at meal time. 5 units at first and if that dosen't work 10 units. All in all I was happy with my first appointment until, I was ready to get my blood test. He had told me that I could come back to get my blood tested today at his office but when I got back I was told I had to go to Labcorp (you know how I feel about them!) because the kinds of tests he was doing were considered "send outs". So I have to go to Labcorp tomorrow for a blood test. Wish me luck! Loves and Hugs Liz aka "Heaven".

Liz, I am glad you liked the new Endo. It sounds like he is on the ball, and doing more on this appt than others. You can handle Labcorp one more time…and, you will get lots of support here with others on insulin. When you have a chance, look at other discussions and chime in and respond or ask questions. A lot of good folk here.

Hugs, and see you at work Tuesday

My blood sugars are going crazy again! and I've started up with a low grade temp again. Dr. thinks its because I lowered my hydrocortosone. Who knows! my Endo is suspecting that I have Polyendocrine deficiency syndrome because all of my enocrine glands are being effected by the autoimmune disorders that I have. That's another reason why he thinks I may have type 1 instead of type 2.

Hey Suzie, I made it in on Saturday for about an hour and had to go home sick. But I'm planning on being at work today. I'm feeling better today. My sugars are still too high though even though I'm taking 10 units of novalog at every meal.

Liz, check out "Check your numbers daily"…they just started a #5. Glance thru the others 1-4 to see what others are posting for their #'s, what they take and ask for advice. Tell them you are new to insulin, and see what suggestions you might get. I just don't know insulin. See you later today…I am ok…hugs

I have Type 1 and Multiple Sclerosis. To treat my MS, my neurologist likes to use ACTH, which is the hormore defficiency in Addison's. I wonder if there is some connection there?
