I was sitting here watching the cooking channel and it dawned on me… Are there ANY diabetic cooking shows?…

I mean, watching Paula Deen add an extra cup of butter (or butta) to everything she makes is def not healthy or ideal for us… Watching the Neelys deep fry everything is def a turn off… and watching that barefoot contessa person drink with every meal makes me want to take the bottle and bash her over the head (ok i wouldnt really do it but sheesh, she drinks on every show she does!)

So, with Obesity all over the news and millions of people being diagnosed with diabetes, how come there is no "Diabetic" cooking shows? I mean, I think it would be REALLY awesome to watch a cooking show with someone who can cook a delicious diabetic friendly meal. Someone who could give me some new ideas for food that I can eat, and my husband would enjoy as well. Someone who not only can make yummy diabetic food, but also show portion control…there is nothing worse than watching Rachel Ray cook up a huge pot of pasta, then fill the entire plate with it plus sauce, and a big hunk of bread!

I sure wish I was creative enough to cook fun meals and pretty enough to be on TV..cause I would totally Love a diabetic cooing show!

I love to cook I find a lot of recipes in the magazine that I snag from my doctors office and I also have a Mr. Food's Quick and Easy Diabetic Cooking, I'm alway looking for cook books for Dibetics. Since I do all the cooking my family is eating heathy and don't even know. I also take the foodnetwork recipe and substitute the bad stuff for the good stuff. I don't cook with salt never, matter of fact my whole family hates the taste of salt, I have a great veggie chile recipe on the recipe section. I fixed this chili for the supper bowl and there was not a drop left. The people that said that they did not like veggie chili had two bowls. Just because we are dibetic does not mean that we can not eat what we like just less. I also have a book that teaches you how to eat out when I find it I will share the title with you all…

Kira, have you checked out the recipe section of this site? It has lots of yummy recipes for us and they all or most also give the nutritional counts! I have found several that are too good to pass up! :)

Kira, there was a cooking show on Lifetime channel where three women were the host. The show was 30mins and they would show you how to replace fatty ingredients with healthy ones and still have great taste…shoot I can't remember the name..I am sure it is on google or bing somewhere. The y also have a book that was great- this is how i found my recipe for chocolate cake w/o eggs or flour. My son loves the cake.. AHA now i remember..its called Cook Yourself Thin.

You don't have to be creative.. all you need is a idea.. Do you think that Martha Stewart comes up with all those ides on her show?? I think not.. she has a ton of people who find them for her and she only presents them to the viewers..You could do exactly the same thing.. from your picture you have the looks.. and i think it is past being needed.. i have often times thought about opening up a Restaurant for Diabetics.. Some place where you could go and have a nice dinner without having to figure out what is right or wrong on a menu…

Had a place like that in OKC not far from my house, made all kinds of sugar free pie and cakes had great low carb meals, didn't stay open very long though. Don't know what happened to it.

You can always do cooking videos for diabetics and put them up on youtube or your very own website if you have one.
You never know what it might lead to or where it may take you !
Give it a try, minus the genie guy ! ( LOL ).

I think that would be a great idea. I like watching those cooking shows too. How about a low carb " Iron Chef" ? You just have to have the skills and some charisma to land a slot on a show. Your picture shows you are pretty. Rachel, Emeril, Neely Bobby Flay, don't compare to you. So start cooking, and make your debut!

check out my chat show on the discussion board, help keep me blue by telling me your blues daily,
if it's long send it to " piss and moan " … a little free advertising doesn't hurt, might even help my ratings

There was a cooking show at one time, the guy made all the fatty type stuf until his wife had a stroke, then he started making more healthy recipes, it was on our local stations and for some reason when he started the more healthy stuff his show didn't last long. He might be on the cable networks but I don't have cable so wouldn't know. I think his name was Kerr Graham could be wrong on the name.
