This morning, My BS was 70. I woke up and could get out of bed.I had too to get my 8 year old up for school. That was at 6:22 a.m. I had to drink a Mountain Dew too start feeling a little better. Thank God I have help. My daughter & spouse get up every morning . My daughter gets my youngest dress every morning, and my husband takes her to the bus stop every morning since she's been in school. I thin I had too maybe twice. I'm feeling a little better now but still have not ate anything yet. So I'm going now to eat something.I't hard to want to eat when your sugar is low ,plus I also drunk a cup of coffee . That stops you from being hungry . Well hope my BS stats up. Good luck to everyone else with there BS Levels today.

81 is not too low. My diabetes nurse told me to stay between 70 and 140, below 120 before meals and not over 140 2 hours after meals. I would say 81 is excellant. By the way in case you didn't know we are at #4 now.

Thanks Dan…well unfortunately I gave in and had one of my favorite coffee's, it was a small and sugar-free, but as we know, all because it is sugar-free it doesn't mean that it has no sugar. My sugar before dinner was 239. It seem like it is the drinks that are getting to me…I think I need to just stick to "diet" drinks and water.

Umm, last night my sugar went up to 300-something. I don't kjnow why, my sugar was 65 a couple hours before and all I had was tortilla's and salsa. FRUSTERATING!!
However this morning it was 99 - Oh yeah! Awesome morning reading for me :)
This afternoon it was 87
Lets see if I can keep it under 100…

Yesterday it was 81, low again. Today it was 112, coming back up.Trying to keep it high enough that I will not get sick like yesterday. But not too high. I'm still trying to figure out what keeps it steady.

Yes, I do. This morning my BS was 270, and I am on the pump…Mine are always up in the high 100s to 200s, very seldom they get low unless I am bottoming out! Very frustrating…I don't understand since I am getting continuous insulin!

roger 2010-02-22 10:43:35 -0600 Report

sue what is your bg befor bed?
this sounds funny but try having a snack befor bed bolis for it and see what bg is in am i find mine is much lower
u might be crashing in your sleep and your body is putting out more suger to bring u up but u dont have the insulin on board to take care of it that mite be the high u are getting

or u might need more insulin just befor u ger up to help bring the high down like at 3 am or so but talk to your dr about changing that setting
what pump do u have i have the mini med 712 would tell u the settings for over night but cant see them but should be able to tell u when wife gets home or after the 2 when i have my cataract surg hope this helped

roger, my BS last night at 7:24 was 34, and I ate some icecream…I guess I over did it..I checked it again at 8:59 and it was up to 92…I don't know, I just can't seem to get it right! LOL…I guess maybe I should start trying to get up around 3 or so and check it…I have the same pump as you…I'm afraid to adjust any of the settings since they have all of that in my chart at the dr.s office…But, it is almost always up in the 200s in the am…I just must be doing something wrong; one am it was 102, which was great…I just can't get it right…And, I do try to have a snack before going to bed..????????????Frustrated! One am a couple of weeks ago it was 306!

roger
roger 2010-02-22 14:10:31 -0600 Report

sue from the looks of things u are doing the right checking do u have the CGM if not see if your dr cand get it for u to go with your pump this would tell the both of u what is happening while u sleep
but for what it is worth i would try for a little higher # befor bed so u dont crash in your sleep and u are right not to change any settings without dr ok good luck and keep trying we all are different and react diff to food and meds u will find what is right for u

Sue Turner
Sue Turner 2010-02-22 14:52:47 -0600 Report

Roger, I do not have that..I wanted to get it when I got my pump, and my doctor applied for it, but my insurance didn't cover it, only the pump, and I didn't have the money to purchase it…Believe me, I wanted it, and maybe I can get it sometime at a later date…That is what my plans are anyway…

Markus, my sugar was 300 yesterday morning and jumped up that high before I went to bed last night as well, no reason for the night sugars. I have a difficult time and no one here is perfect, that would just be sickening lol! Don't be too hard on yourself that just causes stress and from what I learned here on DC, stress can raise your sugars. And what I have also learned, take one day at a time…

Thanks Roy, that means alot to me! I'm trying so hard with these sugars, they get to be a pain in the butt sometimes, but I, along with everyone else here, can only do what we know best to kick this thing in the butt!!
And I'd like to think that she didn't cause my sugars to go up, that was my responsibility, however she didn't encourage me for the better.

I woke up this morning with a sugar of 312, but I don't think the nyquil that I took last night helped, my dr. told me it had sugar in it awhile ago but I forgot. But I quickly made sure it went down. So my sugars today were:
312 7u novolog/17 70/30
68
187 2u novolog 17/novolog
79

Roy531
Roy531 2010-02-21 06:42:31 -0600 Report

Nyquil is not very good for us diabetics at all. It causes mine to go up so I quit using it. Can't remember the stuff I use but if I remember the name will let you know. It works good for me.

Its not a lot of work. I just make sure I drink my water every day and watch what I eat. I refuse to eat anything that might spike my blood sugar. I started a blog yesterday about how I got my numbers under control. Its been a lot of work the last couple of days. Its not much yet, but I'm working on getting it better. http://kirla.wordpress.com/

I know just you mean. I dont eat sweet and I drink lots of water, and I refuse to eat anything that I know will make my sugars high. I also put my family on the very same foods that I eat so they wont have this problem. I will check out your web site and I know I will enjoy it. I will one day tell just how I became a diabetic and I was on two type of insulin, and High blood pressure med, but now I dont take the pill nor do I take blood pressure med, any more the doctor took me off all of my diabetic meds and I didn't have high blood pressure so out went that med also

I know what you’re talking about. I no longer take any meds also. I was taking 500mg Metformin twice a day, 10mg Lisinopril, 40mg Simvastatin and 81mg Aspirin once a day.

Since drinking lots of water and eating low carb vegetables like broccoli cauliflower, pickles, cucumbers, spinach, onions, peppers, sauerkraut and cabbage. I was able to stop taking meds.

I no longer have high blood sugar. My last A1C was 5.4. I don’t have problems anymore with high blood pressure and cholesterol either. Fixing the BP and cholesterol was a side benefit of getting my blood sugar under control.

I just started the blog 2 days ago. It’s been a lot of work setting it up. I’m not sure what I’m doing yet. I’m hoping it will be something people will enjoy reading. I plan on adding pages about my experiences with diabetes.

Setting up a blog is real easy. If your interested just send me a message. I believe the more people telling there story the better.

Thanks
Kevin

I'm happy for all who can get off of their meds for diabetes. I'm a type 1 and there is no getting off of my insulin. I take a shot before each meal and I take Lantus at bed time. I'm not complaining, just wishing the one's who can get off the diabetic meds well.
