My hubby actually asked me what I wanted, and went shopping with me! So, what do you want for Valentine's Day? Will you get a present, have to get it yourself, or live it like any other day?

ahh, to love and be loved it's beautiful isn't it …
someone who loves me for who i am blue skin and all, and not for what i can do and provide, granting wishes and a life inside a tiny cramped up brass plated lamp …

My hubby's best present to me is just that he is still alive. He has had two heart attacks, throat cancer, and a horrible wreck that caused him to get brain damage. Over the years him just being well and with me is quite enough this year. We did go to Applebee's and had a great meal.

:( . the man does not deserve you! i guess it could be worse and he might have forgoten to get even a card. he takes you for granted. try disrupting the pattern of what you do for him. maybe he will then take notice.

Just another day. Always wish each other Happy V-Day, a card and same old stuff. About 5 or 6 yrs. ago, I had a procedure done on my eyes after work. Then I drove to a fancy store, could hardly see with my eyes dialated so much. Bought some realyy nice t-bones for 4 (wife, and 2 daughters) and some nice jumbo shrimp, cocktail sauce, and some fancy cards. Came out to just under $100.00. After driving home 35 miles half blind, cooking dinner, they said it was nice, but tasted no different from what we usually got. Sooo…Don't go shopping blind !!!

I got married on New Years Eve '09 so I am a newly wed for this Valentines Day but my new husband is an over the road truck driver and is miles away this weekdend. He asked me what I wanted and I said just for him to be home which he won't be, but that is ok we will do something special when he does get home. I feel very blessed to have him. He sends me flowers and buys little gifts out of the blue which means more than feeling like he "has" to do something on one certain day.
I sent my boys each a Valentine card and candy that live away from home. They will say it is lame but I know they like it when mom thinks of them.
Everybody have a great weekend and love yourself that is more important than flowers or candy.

Early Happy Valentines day to all..those that have significant others and not. If no one tells you, "I LOVE YOU" and you are veryspecial. This year is no different for me, I have not received any hints, ideas or suggestions from my spouse, but if I do not do something, I am going to be in the doghouse (anybody else like that). What do you do besides the norm or how can you improve upon it after 35 years? Personally, I think it's the thought (just remembering to say I LOVE YOU) and not just the gift alone. So I prepared this little gift bag of bears, candy, card and necklace with roses…all out again. As for me, anything that I get or do not get in return will be good. I count it all joy…LUV YAW!!!!!

That sounds perfect! I have even made VD coupons for special things…and when our son was growing up, I would make a heart shaped meat loaf on VD. He got a kick out of it, and it was a special meal. I am not crazy about meat loaf, but they would get it at least once a year. He still brings it up sometimes, and he is 35.

S2 thats so nice of your husband to ask you. when i was married i never received anything from my ex who thought that V day is an excuse for spending. i shall be spending V day by myself. and i dont mind because i have the rest of my life to spend V day with someone special. hope you have a good one.

donna13 2010-02-13 07:47:23 -0600 Report

I think that's a motto for so many men. I spent years convincing my husband that any little acknowledgement on V-Day was what I wanted. He finaly got it.

imsuzie2 2010-02-13 19:46:21 -0600 Report

It was nice. I usually have to buy the present for myself. I'll admit everyone at work thinks my husband is fabulous…that is because I have to buy my gift, and he only has to deliver it to me at work before I get there, and can be "surprised" and bask in their envy. A girl has to do what a girl has to do! His parents were not good role models. That is why when he asks and comes with me, it is special.

CC, spend VD with us, your family. We love you enough to ALMOST make up for any one special!!! Hugs

There was a piece in the paper today about a farmer who made a huge heart in a field made of manure. His wife just laughed and said it was cute. Not sure I could be that understanding, but then I've never lived on a farm.

My husband and I don't give presents on Valentine's Day -just a special dinner tomorrow. I've bought a sparkly heart garland ($2.99 @ CVS) that I'm planning to drape around his home office tomorrow morning (I'm always up before he is) - and some candy hearts to scatter around. Like in his underwear drawer. It'll be fun. I'll hear him laugh all day tomorrow as he finds them around the house.

And the candy hearts are the kind I DON'T like! No danger there… :)

I'm glad you had fun with it, Suz. As for my VD, CC, it sounds a lot like Suz's - started with a huge burst of laughter from his office when he came in to find it decorated for the day and continued throughout. We had a lazy day, lots of good time together, something our busy-ness tends to prevent!

Easter's just around the corner! (And you can get those little chocolate eggs that are wrapped in foil and won't cause a mess.)

And my Valentine's Day was great - thanks for asking!

imsuzie2 2010-02-16 00:22:44 -0600 Report

Problem has always been that I am the one to always find what he has lost in the house! :) And, chocolate eggs are more dangerous. Hershey makes the BEST candy that I only now find at Easter (Thankfully). Used to be called Prisms, now Eggs or the like. Almost like a large egg shaped M&M, but milk chocolate. And with so many looking alike, I need to be really certain to get the right ones if I am gonna take the plunge. Gotta change the subject NOW…stores are filled with "left-over V candy at discount and the new Easter stuff!!!

Kira_xo 2010-02-16 04:28:43 -0600 Report

Whoa whoa whoa!!! NO Easter talk!!! Easter is April 4th this year… And that means, 2 days after Easter is my sons FIRST birthday… I am not ready for my baby to be a toddler! lol. So Easter can take it's time getting here! lol!

On another note, Cadbury caramel Eggs are freakin' delicious! And, my husband has already gotten himself some left over v-day candy while we were at target, although, with targets prices, it may as well have been full price. Lol.

imsuzie2 2010-02-16 04:39:06 -0600 Report

We were at Wal-Mart yesterday, but before midnite, so no mark-downs. Gads, I used to stock up on chocolate after all holidays…slowed down on that! I never developed a taste for Cadbury chocolate…

Kira_xo 2010-02-16 04:56:09 -0600 Report

Hahaha the ONLY cadubury egg i like is the caramel filled ones… I find the creme filled and chocolate filled ones disgusting…of course, Id tae a reese cup over any of them any day lol.

Hahaha I am not looking forward to the terrible twos..heck I cant even believe he is almost 1 year old… I could have sworn I just brought him home from the hospital and he was itty bitty 7 pounds…now I have a very tall 25 pound 10 month old!

Reese's are pretty good in the carb count. I take a package and give hubby 1 and I eat the other. Around 15 carbs for 1 cup.
