Diabetic Connect has been so helpful to myself and so many others with the various discussion boards \ catergories and unlimited information.

Some of us tune in daily and many times daily, reading post, providing comments, insight, advice and to learning new things and communicate with friends.

How would you feel if your computer or laptop went down for a day or a few days, how would you feel knowing that you couldn't access this site, the information or the wonderful friends here ?

No apology necessary or offense taken, if it brings people together, makes for interesting conversation, helps relieve stress or makes someone laugh or smile it has served a positive purpose, I just tune in and read the comments !

I agree! Our posts are very stream-of-consciousness and that is when the good stuff starts! LOL Renee :)

Sorry, Mays! Your discussion got a little off-track from what you originally intended! I think we could post a discussion about nothing and we'd all still show up just to shoot the breeze! Renee :)

For a few days, okay. I would deal with it. BUT, I have come to count on this as a primary support when I feel challenged to poke myself for a test, stick myself for insulin, eat properly, exercise, get rest, and whatever else I want to accomplish when I don't feel up to it.

what i used to do preDC and pre internet: read, paint, talk to friends,go out for coffees, garden. there was life before the advent of internet and there will be life post internet. mmmmmm except i guess i will miss the immediacy of being able to communicate with someone anywhere in the world.

You know you're addicted to the internet when you phone a dialup company and try to hum like a modem.
You've been spending too much time on the computer when you get on the elevator and double-click your floor.

I would say "hmm it's a great chance to do some ironing" :)

dietcherry 2010-02-10 07:09:08 -0600 Report

LOL! You are always so funny! Renee :)

BIRDY 2010-02-10 07:51:37 -0600 Report

Renee , I seriously must do some ironing. There is a laundry mountain at home :)

dietcherry 2010-02-10 07:54:22 -0600 Report

Birdy, I seriously cannot remember the last time I ironed anything, not even sure where my iron is; I'm in to wash-and-wear clothing! Renee :)

donna13 2010-02-10 16:45:43 -0600 Report

I worked with a group of women one time and we had a whole list of " nasty 4 letter words": wash, iron, dust, cook.

DiabetesDiva 2010-02-15 19:26:03 -0600 Report

I only use my iron for craft projects! Even my husband knows what type of wash & wear clothes to buy! We had lots of power outages where I used to live. Sometimes for 5 days at a time. So, I communicate the old skool way -
via telephone

Deb-G 2010-02-16 07:03:12 -0600 Report

I know right! …they make "No Iron" dress shirts for men and those suckers are great if you grab them right out of the dryer they really dont need a thing! ;) lol

Danni-the-diabetic 2010-02-16 21:29:00 -0600 Report

My mom use to have this no iron spray, so my mom would give it to us to use on our clothes when we were too young to iron. We had school uniforms one year that needed the starch and ironing so I though I would figure it out on my own…I burnt my shirt. I was 12 and never touched an iron before that, so besides the brown shirt, I think it went well, lol.

Danni-the-diabetic 2010-02-10 00:01:50 -0600 Report

Hmm, there's times when I can't get on the computer due to not enough hours in the day, but if I wasn't able and it was out of my control than I think i would go through withdrawals - no, more like a home sickness lol. I am on here as often as I get, at least two - three times a day. I tell everyone about how great this site is and how helpful it is to me…lol they get tired of me saying "Did you know…" all the time because I am constantly learning something new. As long as I knew that I'd be back in a few days I'd be okay and spend a couple hours catching up lol. Good question :)
