You probably opened this thinking "highs and lows" is related to blood sugar, but it's not. My sister and I started a dinner tradition several years ago where we go around the table and say what are high (best) part of the day was, and then we go around asking what the low part was. I thought it'd be nice to try to start it here. That we can air out the negative, but also reflect upon the positive. Many people, including myself, remember the bad things much easier than they do the good things.

Highs : Helping others understand the importance of maintaining control of their diabetes and the possible effects of neglecting to do so.

Lows : Not being able to help those that can and really do need help and support .

My lows…I am in so much pain from this staph infection I could just SCREAM… i can hardly walk and my husband has been working late for weeks so I dont get as much help around the house as id like. The pain makes it really hard to be able to get up and be a parent to my 10 month old and today i just had it! I cried, i cussed…i broke my cell phone in half… It was just a very very bad day.

The high was, (even tho this is bad for a diabetic) my husband brought me home mexican take out and it was delicious! So yea I cheated but I don't regret a single bite after the day I had!

Also… thank god my cell plan was time for an upgrade! So I got a new cell phone for the one I broke =\

I hate staff infections, I feel your pain :(
Mexican food! Yummy! All I eat is the cheese, mushroom and chicken quesadilla, but it's soooo good!

My High for the day was…getting the computer moved to the den and rearranging furniture; it was a great workout and the place looks alot better.

My low was…uncontrolled sugars…"you're up then your down, you're in than your out.." (it's a song). I didn't have enough willpower to say no to the coffee, but it was sooo good!
Oh yeah! and finding out that my Dr. wants to check my blood levels this coming Tuesday. I know my A1C will be lower, but not where I want it to be because my sugars have just started getting better. I am nervous to see how my kidney and liver function is, esp. since I heard neuropathy effects your precious organs. It also sucks because I have no insurance and this means lots of money that I don't have.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing. My sister worked at a retirement home and it upset her when one of her patients passes, even more so when it was someone she became really close to.

High: Eating a piece of ice cream cake and splitting a sandwich with my sister and my sugar stayed at 120 (I took 5u. of insulin), but before it seemed like it still would have risen. I got my neurontin, hopefully it will ease my pain.
Low: I took my seroquel for the 1st time last night and slept all through the night, so I didn't get a chance to check my sugar in the middle of the night like I have been and it was 247 this morning and the seroquel made me feel drowsy all day, I even cut the pill in half and took the smaller half. Last time I take that!

Harlen - I can understand your wife's feelings because I have a sister like that. I finally figured out that I love her, but I don't like her and her behavior very much. When family gets together and she can't be there, there's a sense of relief quickly followed by guilt.

Contradictory feelings - and perfectly natural. You love the sinner but hate the sin, as my preacher says.

Blessings to you and your wife - Pam

An excellent way of analizing one's perspective on life !

Highs : Being alive, knowing that you at least have a chance to change or make changes in your life !

Lows : Being human, headstrong and stubborn only to have to come back and start from square one, all over again !

The best part of my day was seeing my gramma, we have a blast cuttin up with eachother and playing with and making my niece smile when no one else could.

Low: Feeling out of control and Finding out that the neuropathy is most likely permanent even with controlled sugars.
