That is awsome Julie!! Congrats!!

I am figuring out that with myself, if I don't allow myself something "bad" for me at least every other day, then I will spend an entire weekend on the couch not wanting to move, because I've eaten all of my kids left over Halloween candy or something to that effect. I have found that I can encorporate small little treats into my diet and still have good numbers.

Good Luck!! And again getting yourself off of insulin is wonderful!! What are you taking now? Just wondering

Blessed Be

Im on Byetta and Metforman ER.. I love the Byetta cause thats what making me eat right…cause if I dont I get real sick to my stomach and integestion.. and it reduses my appetite.

That is wonderful news…Last night my BS dropped to 35, so I ate a small piece of peach pie, yummmm, but I am paying for it this morning…My BS was 288, so I immediately gave myself an adjustment on my pump, aand now I am just working on getting it back down to a normal level! It's not easy but, we do what we have to do… You are doing great! Keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing…

Dont you just hate that!! It goes that think you can eat something sweet and good…and then it shoots up like that. Like a yo-yo. You would think it would only go up alittle when its that low…ohh well thats how we learn isnt it?

Yes, I do hate that; it's the only time I can eat something really good…But, I should have eaten one of my glucose tabs instead, but here is my husband shoving this pie in my face, and I am so out of it, I just grab it and eat it…LOL. You are feeling so terrible, you just want to get your BS up and feel better, then it goes up that high, and you feel even worse! It's like a catch 22! :) But, I'm good right now; I finally got it down, and changed out my insulin hoping that will help… It was time anyway…

In the hospital we used to give orange juice with sugar added, PLUS peanut butter to help keep it from bouncing clear out of site—helps to even out that yo-yo effect. We had one Dr who wouldn't even give anything extra to someone on Insulin—sliding scale, said it would even out naturally, but not sure that I "buy that" PR

I like that mays, "continue taking care of yourself, but don't stop living.", I'm going to have to write that on little post-it's (I love those) and place them in various places. I've gone from one extreme to the other, I need to find that happy medium. :)

Good job, Julie. Just don't do what I've done in the past: when I get an extra-good report, I've been known to 'treat myself'' with goodies and wind up in bad sugar trouble. Remember that winning a battle, even a big one like this, doesn't end the war. It's still an awesome accomplishment, though.

Yes I know…I am famous for falling off the wagon. For some reason…when I acoplish some thing good…I do some thing bad to myself. Im tring not to do that again. I feel like its almost like being an alcaholic…you have to start out every day starting new.

We would probably all like to celebrate with a big piece of chocolate cake, but why not buy yourself something nice you wouldn't necessarily get? I'm trying to train myself to do things like that.
