I always take my glipizide 1/2 hour before I
eat. I forgot this morning (first time-honest)
so I took it right after I ate. Does this really
make a difference?

I was started on Glipizide recently and Dr told me to take it with lunch the bottle indicates take a 1/2 hour prior so not sure it really makes much of a difference. I am still having issues and trying to settle in with this medication.

I also try to take my meds (glipizide) 30 minutes before I eat, but it isn't always possible. I think that is recommended for optimal benefit, but it is better to take it late than not at all.

Glipizide hits me so hard and fast, I eat first, and if my BS is over 150, take 1/4 of one pill, then monitor and eat more if necessary—-can't tell it makes much diff, but does if I take any, and don't monitor it! I read 235 one day, took 1/2, and 40 mins later was down to 40!! sweating and shaking, so had to eat some peanut butter—worked out but have been real cautious since. PR

Oral Rx often tell you if you miss a dose take it as soon as
you remember or if you are due for another dose in short
time period of time to skip the missed dose. The papers
which you receive with each medication will explain. If
you still have a question. Check with your local pharmacy.

I don't think it matters, have done the same thing serveral time, and I talked with the doctor about it and he said it was ok. I forgot to take my before supper and didn't remember until bedtime and took it then and it didn't kill me and it didn't lower my blood sugar drastically. I also read to take it as soon as you remember if you forget to take it.
