I have been using my second meter for a year now. The first just stopped ( I wore it The one I replaced it with a year ago is giving me a reading that just isn't possible. Is that a tell-tell sign its time to change meters? I have a bright shiny metallic one I am dying to break in. How do you gange when it is time to break in a new meter people?

Its just one of those things that are manmade, no punt intended. But everything wears out so quick now-a-days!! Hopefully the new one will work just right for you. I been thinking mine is giving me crazy readings too. Maybe it's time for a change!! LOL

This may sound stupid, but have you checked the battery? If you use it at least 4 times a day, I know the meter doesn't last forever. I just got a pretty lavender One Touch from the company.

I would for sure use the control solution to check it's norm. If it's in the ballpark, then I would keep using it. Check with your Drs. meters or a friend to see if there is a huge difference.

How is the reading not possible? Was it a single reading or is it consistent? It's also hard to any if the meter is broken since there are so many variables involved.

I judge this by how a meter is preforming. If I am getting readings that are off base for me. I check the meter with
test solution. If a meter has been dropped on a cement
floor or other hard service the readings could be questionable.
I open a new meter. Its basically up to you.

All meters become erratic at times, some sooner than others, if you are experiencing problems it's better to be safe than sorry, when and if it acts up repeatedly, replace it ASAP !
