There is much conversation about Peripheral Neuropathy and diabetes. We do not see as much discussion on Autonomic Neuropathy. This nerve damage involves the autonomic nervous system, the nerves controlling automatic body functionssuch as digestion, sweating, bloating, dizzinessor nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation.People with this condition may not be able to empty their bladders completely ( which can predispose them to bladder infections),and as many as half of diabetic men may develop erectile dysfunction ( impotence). This is especially true for men who has had diabetes for many years.
According to the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial, people who followed intensive blood sugar control reduce their risk for neuropathy by 60%.
This article appearing in Everyday health includes diagnosis and treatments.

I just take it one day at a time. So far I'm doing OK. I'll find out next month exactly what's going to happen and when. Thanks to everyone of you for caring.

I am on a medicine right now in pill form that I take 4 times a day. I can only eat soft food.Yes it is caused by diabetes. I will find out next month how long I have before I have until I need a feeding tube. I do have a living will.

I have it and it has affected my stomach to where it doesn't empty fast enough. There is no cure. It is going to lead me being on a feeding tube.
