There is a website called Diabeticcare.com and you can get your test strips the best price anywhere, even wal mart. There are like five cents each. Hope this helps. I think it's disgusting how diabetics can't get the meds or supplies they need just to survive. What is wrong with this country. I don't even want to get started on this but something needs to be done and soon.

Hello ktheobald, I'm also unemployed and have no insurance. I go to a hospital where they give you a discount plan according to how much you make. You would still have to pay for your supplies but they are cheaper buying them at the hospital. I allso suffer from depression, so I have alot of medication to buy. When I go to the hospital I have a co-pay but its really cheap, like 5 dollars. I know its not free supplies but as I have found out it beats paying full price for the supplies.

I have insurance but just found out that my benefits for prescriptions are exhausted for this year. I am taking Byetta and also need to pay for test strips and needles for the Byetta. Anyone have any ideas? I went to fill a 90 day supply at the Pharmacy and the cost was just North of $1,200. I held off for now but am wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

Howdy K,
There are a lot of suggestions all over this site, here is the link to one recent one: http://www.diabeticconnect.com/discussions/40...

You can search discussion threads by going to the gray tab [search discussions] on the upper right of the discussion page. click on that and you can enter the term you are looking for and it may give you a page where the term is used. You might use the term "free", for instance. You will get multiple pages where people have used the word free (including this one now). If you want to sort through these you might find something of use to you. Also Harlen had a good suggestion.

I pray you find help with your diabetes supplies. ~James~

I suggest you read Amy's Blog on an a discount Rx card. It
was posted a couple of days ago. You can also explain your
need to your Dr. He might be able to give you samples or direct you to help in your area.

Here is something that may interest you also.

( The form is in PDF Format so you will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view it )

Many times there are diabetics without healthcare. I myself know someone like this. There are plenty of patient assistance programs designed to help those in need. This is a great program designed to give out free insulin to those in need. You will have to qualify and show proof of need so there is little chance of abusing this program. If you or someone you love needs insulin and cannot afford it, please see the following PDF form for how to get a free 90 days supply of insulin.
