Xena, welcome here. Go to "discussions", then click on "search discussions" and type in "free meters" There are a bunch of people who have extra meters who are willing to give. Sometimes the strips are the problems. Good luck.

Hi, Cheeco!! And Welcome to this site and what a sight!! haha—We are humorous, or testy and vent, or piss and moan, as the case might be, in order to try and relieve some of the STRESS that can also play havoc with our numbers!

When summer comes I will add swimming to my exercise list (it is a SHORT List!!) as it seems to help keep my numbers down, this winter has been rough with so much cold weather that only stimulates my appetite, making me work harder in order to not just start poking STUFF down to fill the void. Folks on here are great to give you ideas for snacks, breakfast and other meals—my main eating time problem is late afternoon!! But I am getting there with the help and kind support of these dear people!! Welcome again!! Pat Roth

I would like to know about people who are: Around my age, who have type 2 diabetes, along with several other conditions, to include, conversion disorder with convulsions/siezures, and uncontrolled high blod pressure. Who may also, like me have no choice but to take 22 medications every day, just to live. I can't drive, and my job basiclly said, after 18 years, at the same hospital, to retire, I was too sick, and the doctors didn't know what to do. Try having to explain to your children why you have a DNR. Let alone, know, that they know, you have knocked on death's door, more times than you care to count. At my age, nitroglycerin pills and patches are not something, I ever thought I would have had to use, but both within the same year is not an experience I want to repeat.

God Bless you and your family and know that you are ready for whatever befalls you!! I have a DNR too, no one knows it—yet. Love and Hugs, Pat R

It is very hard to tell your family about your DNR, because of who you choose, and who's feelings you hurt, but you have to pick someone you trust, regardless of what others think.

I have only been diagnosed for the past 5 years. And have been having a hard time with control until now. found someone who actually thinks the way I do and that diabetes is caused by the processed foods we eat.

Was searching for an explaintion to my sometime extreme shift in thought processes and reason.Thought maybe glucose therapy would solve the mystery…was diganosed hypoglocemic at 18…

bigmarston 2010-01-28 16:37:50 -0600 Report

bouncing blood sugars caused my moods to swing for years. All I needed was a blood sugar moniter with a sensor that tracks my blood sugar every 5 minutes. You might start off just by tracking your blood sugar 4 times a day and seeing if anything pops out to you or your Dr.
