Hi! Everyone,
I haven't left just been to shy to write. I log on everyday and look around. In the past I tried to write, but I never got much response and I felt that I wasn't able to make myself understood very well so I just stopped writing. I do not have much confadence in my writing and spelling
But I didn give up on you my friends. I just wanted to let you know I'm not gone just behind the scene.

Hi JoAnna,

Don't be afraid to write…It doesn't matter how you put it down, that doesn't bother us at all…We are all friends here, and we laugh a lot about how we express ourselves at times…English was my best subject in school; always wanted to be a writer, and there was a time that I could, but not anymore…Sometimes I can't remember how to spell my name…LOL. I have to keep my dictionary laying beside my computer…I told my husband one day, that I might be able to write something, If I didn't have to stop and look up every other word because I can't remember how to spell it :) Pretty funny huh!!!

Wow, Sue! I admire your looking up words, I just type away, sometimes misspelling because I am in a hurry and don't check my words before posting. I was always good in spelling and reading, so pretty much know if IT LOOKS RIGHT! ahah—Now that is being lazy!! But it works for me—-I wanted to write some too, have in small ways, contribute some to our weekly paper, mostly my opinions and comments—-the public is allowed Letters to the Editor, and I do double-check them before submitting, but here, I relax and KNOW that you guys will understand, and get it! English was my best subject, too. When I try to write something now it's as if my mind goes on strike. I usually check my postings, but something still gets by me and the spelling is atrocious. I keep telling myself it is just a typo, because I really am a poor typist.

You sound like me. I can't remember how to spell words and it is so frustrating to me. I would love to write a book but do not have confadence. If you love writing you should do it even if you have to look up words. They say we have it all in our brain. How to acess it?

I am here, but had to quit setting so long in front of "my friends"! Started my back and hip pain, had to go to ER Mon night and get 2 shots, oral pills just weren't touching it—I had an MRI today, am waiting results, but do NOT want surgery if I can get those shots when the pain gets too intense, I want the easy way out—-if possible—-anesthetic affects my left lung and breathing/energy too much!

Am feeling better so am back but better shorten my sessions in writing—lol, PR

Hi JoAnna,
I did the very same thing when I started reading the posts here. Then it started feeling like I was 'lurking' so I joinged in. lol We're all different here and not here to judge anyone else. Heck I've never met anyone here, but some mean more to me than a few of my family members. :-)

Hi JoAnna,
I agree with what all my friends here at Diabetic Connect have said so far.
Some other points…
Writing, whether spelled correctly or not, shows you have things to contribute and care about yourself and others.
When I read a message, I don't care about the spelling. I care about what that friend has to say.
When people write, it is their "voice" I hear in the message…not the spelling that moves me.
As James said, drop in and say hi on Good morning, afternoon, or evening #23. It would be a great place to get your "feet wet". :)
Sal :)
PS You did a wonderful job expressing yourself when you began this discussion! Please let us hear more from you. :)

Dear JoAnna
I echo everything the good folks who posted before me have said. Please DON'T BE HARD ON YOURSELF! There are times I get no response to what I write, but that doesn't mean I won't say what's on my mind. In fact you have written a perfectly clear and understandable discussion opener. And look how many responded to this discussion thread! That ought to tell you something!

And those who are spelling snobs can just kiss my grits! LoL!

I wish I could find it now, but there was an email going around about a year or so ago that had many deliberate misspellings and yet it was understandable proving the point that even though one's spelling was horrible, one could still be understood. The human brain sorts and figures out the meaning even though there were trememdous misspellings. So please contribute as you feel led to.
I think the folks at "GOOD MORNING AFTERNOON AND EVENING #23" would enjoy you dropping in everyday to say "hi" and let us know what's going on with you (I know I would). Here's the link to find it:
Glad you're still here

Blessings to you ~James~

Its the caring and the sharing that are important, not the spelling. KEEP COMING BACK AND SHARE WITH ALL

Don't be afraid to write. We are not all writers here and some sure don't know how to spell.Dont be shy no one else is .

MAYS 2010-01-26 22:05:39 -0600 Report

It doesn't matter what you write, whether or not it's spelled correctly or not, it's what's in your heart and the heart of others that matter, Love, Smiles and Compassion are all universal, no language needed !
Just saying " Hi " or " Hello ", says it all !
