I just want to wish everyone a happy and healthy life and times dealing with Diabetes and the Complications created by it.

This is a Great site and gathering place but after exploring and participating here, it doesn't seem to be the place for me at this time.

I may be wrong, but it seems to be geared more towards comforting and moral support while my mindset currently is set for educating and awareness.

Continue to be there and support one another,
much more can be accomplished together than can ever be done separately .. !

Best Wishes to all !

The things we have here is the most important things in life.We have careing friends who will listen to our complaints,to our good news,to our bad news, and be here for support when we need a shoulder to cry on.They will laugh with us and cry with us.

In fact I just suggested this site to a friend whose husband suffers pre-diabetes
I find this site very helpful, in giving moral support as well as giving medical information.

I was 'blind' about diabetic, I joined this site cause I was very sad and confused that my Mom was at hospital because of her diabetes and the complication, and also because my Dad is also a type 2 (my Mom is type 2 too).

I was glad that I found loads info that I need, and I feel more confident now to help taking care my Mom and pass the info to my Dad, and of course this also benefits me so I will be able to prevent my self from becoming a person with diabetes.

From this site I also can learn about the side effects of some of the medicines that my Mom currently must take, and I can talk about it with her doctor with confident (because in my county there's a tendency that doctors will give as many medicine for the sake of money).

I am very happy for this site :-)
I hope you stay

Thank You
Helping one person in the smallest way possible is worth it if it changes someone's life for the better.

Your farewell post, Mays, has really bothered me. I thought I'd just blow it off but have changed my mind. I have two points:

1. If you were truly interested in information, all you had to do is start a discussion asking your question. That's how I first found this site - looking for help when dealing with a medication issue. I was immediately flooded with information, advice, and, yes, moral support. Thanks to the words of wisdom from people on this site who had the same experience, I am no longer throwing up every night.

2. I politely ask you what it is you really wanted from this site and the people on it. In an earlier post titled "If my words have touched you in anyway…", you write:

"Never one to criticize, but always open to betterment, if I have in any way touched your life with my words or phrases, some harsh, others soft, please pass that on to some one else, we all need someone to talk to and a little help sometimes in carrying our burdens.

"My objective was to lift your spirits, awaken that inner you that once guided you on the right path towards happiness."

You received one reply - which I'm sure was disappointing - which suggested that you, in your lengthy post, were perhaps being a bit harsh.

The word I would use is - grandiose.

Good luck to you on your journey.

Thank you for your input.
I am not looking to receive, but rather to give.
Negativity doesn't bother me, ignorance does and that statement is not, nor will it ever be directed at anyone here on this site.
My comments and postings are not given or based on my battle with diabetes but rather that which I have seen in others, most notably children.
I believe and will always feel that Education and Action combined with advances in the medical field will eventually combat Diabetes, not ignorance.
If my approach is to " Philosophical " it's because I know that Education, Awareness and Action do work !
And that's much more than my opinion, ask any doctor.
( It's not an attack, it's all Reality and Facts )

Why can't all thoughts expressed here, co-exhist?? I am wordy too, mostly trying to vent my own inner turmoil in order to clear my mind, but also in hopes that some of my stories will help others too, but I am not the one to say HOW this info is to be used—to each his own! I find comfort and wisdom in every word on this site, the opinions and experiences of others—so varied, how INTERESTING!! Even this one—-Pat R

That's strange, I didn't realize that comforting, moral support, education and awareness couldn't co-exist. In fact, I think more of an impact can be made on any given individual when all of those components are accepted in tandem. Maybe that's just me?

No you are not wrong, you are correct !
My methods are based on what I have witnessed as both an insider and outsider pertaining to diabetes and it's complications, Education, Awareness and Action will do so much more than people can imagine.
The medical statistics pertaining to the complications of diabetes is staggering, 87 % (+\- 5%) of the cases of Diabetes could have\ can be avoided.
A " Philosophical " but true fact.
