Is there an insurance other than medicade or medicare, that only charges an individual a certain amount based on their income, I really need medical help, and twice I have been denied for both medicade and medicare. And because of my uncontrollable sugar I have been missing school alot, and have fallen behind.

I live in California and have the state's Medi-Cal program as my insurance. I'd like to find out what meds they cover, as I can't afford to pay out of pocket for ANY of my meds. It's so frustrating to try and find out what's covered and what's not covered.

As far as insurance is concerned, the companys seem to like to jerk people with "pre-existing conditions" around - a lot! At least, it seems like it here in California. I had checked into it a few years ago and was told, that since my youngest had a pre-existing condition (Cerebral Palsy) that the policy would be a lot more expensive, providing they would even cover her. The insurance companies suck! It's like they get away with discrimination legally.

I am in the same boat as you. There is a health insurance called UnitedHealth, I was going to get it about four years ago, but because I was hospitalized three different times in the last 12 months they wouldn't take me. That's the only health in surance I have found that'll take diabetics that was the cheapest. I wish I could be more help. We need health insurance. It's not fair! The one's who need it most - like us! - cannot get it or if we do we have to pay an arm and a leg amd than it's cheaper not to have health insurance. I'm sorry - The topic makes me irate :(

Anyone who has diabetes will tell you that if you find insurance.
they might not cover your diabetes since its a medical
condition that you had prior to there coverage. At this time
its legal, but not fair. Good Luck.

you might check with the local medicaid office, they can probably point you in the direction of a low cost alternative for insurance. or the possibility of a free program (in arizona its called AHCCCS)

In my community we have what is called merci care which is for those who can't get insurance and make too much to qualify for medicare/ medicaid.
