My blood sugar does not seems to get better, I took it after lunch and it was 470, I then washed my hands really good and then it was down to 450 still pretty high. My mouth was so dry and think that i had to go and rinse mouth out. I began to drink bottles of water. I feel find other then it was time for me to take my blood sugar. I don't have no symtoms of anything wrong with me.

You state that you don't have symptoms of something being wrong with you. A high number of 470 is a symptom. Being really really thirsty is a symptom. Being diagnosed with diabetes is a symptom of having problems. I am not sure about washing your hands and then testing again — and getting a lower number? And you didn't mention what you had eaten for lunch.

My concern is that you may not know or understand some of the basics about foods and how they affect your glucose levels. Good information and advice has been offered to you here. I hope you see a doctor very soon.

I agree with everyone else if this isn't your usual blood sugar numbers and you feel as though something is wrong call your doctor or go into er to see what they say. Hope your feel better soon. keep us informed of the outcome.

While you may feel alright, blood sugars in that range have bad long term consequences. Do whatever you have to (Dr. visit, ER, meds change, etc.) to get you bs as close to normal as possible. It's important! Good luck, Art

I learned my lesson, because if it were only that you die and thats it, but the thing is that you can damage your mayor organs and limbs and end up bedridden for many years, depending on a caritative soul to give you quality care (Hard to find these days), my grandmother was bedridden for 11yrs and my mom 5yrs both for complications from high blood sugar, I helped my mom take care of my granny when I was a kid and then took care of my mom.
So please go to your Dr. and make changes in your lifestyle do whatever you have to do to be healthy and as independant and free as you can.
Hugs…LISA

my BS were typically in the 400-450 range also… I ended up changing prescriptions to U-500 insulin (5x more concentrated than regular U-100 insulin) and they are dropping to the 200 range now.

While I do agree that 400+ is dangerous, it really depends on your body. If you are always that high your body will actually get used to functioning at that level and it won't seem bad to you… I know I have had a bs of almost 800 and felt normal… only danger sign was that I had to keep going to the bathroom every 5 mins or so.

Definitely check with your doctor and if you are not already on insulin ask about it, it can be very helpful.

I always forget to wash my hands and it seems not to affect my numbers that I have noticed. If your sugar is that high you need to get help. When I went for my physical my fasting blood sugar was 366. My doctor’s office called me for days. When I finally checked my voice mail I noticed my doctor office called 4-5 times a day for several days. Said they were worried I would go into a diabetic coma. Said to go to urgent care or the emergency room as soon as possible.

If you refuse to get help at least start drinking lots of water and start eating lots of green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, salads, cabbage and the like. Eats lots of low carb vegetables.

Also stop eating sugar or any products that contain sugar and stop drinking sodas or juice. Drink only water and tea or black coffee. Nothing else.

Also stop eating bread, crackers, pasta, potatoes, corn, peas or any products that contains flour or corn. No cakes, ice cream or any product that has more than 5 or 6 net carbs per serving.

I hope you get this under control or at least get your blood sugar down a few hundred points. You need to test before and 1 or 2 hours after eating. Stop eating any foods that spike your sugar. Chicken, fish, beef or pork will not spike your sugar too much. As long as you don’t add any breading or flour.

Good luck
Kevin
