Watching the news with everything about the earthquake in Haiti makes me thank my lucky stars that: 1) I don't live in an area that is prone to earthquakes, and 2) I don't live in a country as poverty stricken as Haiti This is such a disaster, Natural disasters, of course, can happen anywhere but these poor people can't seem to get a break. I understand that a couple of hurricanes have hit there recently, too. It makes me ashamed that I sometimes gripe too much about little things. These people are all in my thoughts tonigh.

On the news just a little while ago, they said that before the earthquake Haiti had only 2 doctors for every 10,000 people. Yes, ten thousand people. Kind of puts our problems with finding good doctors in perspective.

You are right on! We have so much and aren't always thankful for our good health, homes, food, etc. WE must keep them in our prayers. Our church made world wide relief packages before Christmas and I thought about those few things we put together and how thankful I was knowing that it was one tiny thing I could help with for disasters like this.

I am asking Saint Elizabeth (Ann Seton) who was instrumental in founding American hospitals and was canonized fairly recently in the history of the Catholic Church to intervene on behalf of those souls alive and dead who are suffering in Haiti and around the world as a result of this natural disaster. Regardless of your faith, please join me in this sentiment or talk to the higher power of your belief. This human suffering has no religous or political boundaries - it (should) unite us in our humanity. St. Elizabeth, pray for us.

I agree with you. These are people who have so little and
now many of them have lost family as well. We all need to pray for them.
