just been thinking and this may have been done already. there are so many of us here who are challenged by feeling down and depressed that i thought hey why dont we start a list of ideas, things we do individually which has helped us tame the "beast". it can be anything, wacky, creative, calming etc..

I gone through all the comment and consolidate it as below:
Useful tips for diabetic depression (To calm down or for mental refresh)
* Play with your child or grandchild or neighbor’s child.
* Play interested games.
* Connect with your friends.
* Listen to mild music or music that refreshes your mind.
* Silent prayer.
* Silently enjoy the nature (sunshine, sea, rain, etc).
* Diabetic depression may be due to low vitamin D level, have some supplement.
* Have a joyful refreshing bath.
* Watch a funny movie or other programs that make you laugh.

watch a funny movie. laughter releases endorphines and makes you feel better.

A friend of mind calls laughter "internal jogging."

Mmmm…probably not a weight loss regimen…though it would be nice if it was!!!

A quote about laughter that I especially like:

"Laughter is God's hand on the shoulder of a troubled world."

And did you know that, if you put your face in a smile, your brain starts releasing endorphins (or something) so that you actually start feeling happier?

yeah. and it actually uses less muscles to smile than it takes to frown. :)))))

Go for a walk. Just let the outside take over. There is no better feeling, even if it is a little cold outside right now!

Have your vitamin D levels checked. Diabetes often causes low vitamin D levels and low vitamin D levels have been linked to depression. This may partly explain why diabetics seem to have a higher rate of depression. Some studies have shown that taking a vitamin D supplement (nothing massive) can elevate depression to some degree.

Even though it has been cold and snowy here in Kentucky for the past 2 weeks today the sun came out!! I pulled up all the shades and pulled back the curtains and let the sun in. It really lifted my spirits.

I play games and connect with my friends on the computer or go down to the beach. I am lucky to live at the beach and whenever I go there my cares seem to all disappear.
