I have been a type2 diabetic for 4 years but recently my blood sugar level has been quite elevated so I'm wondering if that has something to do with the swelling of my feet? Has anyone else experienced this?

I never really thought of it, but my feet do swell - mostly in the warmer weather. I am on a water pill and let me tell you … I need the most direct route to the nearest bathroom on some days!

Funny u should mention this; My feet have swollen up. I never thought it could be from sugars. I thought it was from eatting sunflower seeds for the salt. Im not a big salt eater but I had to have the salt. I was down with brongistis with flu like.So the last time my doctor sent me to a heart doctor. I had to go twice for test because of this. But everthing was okay. I have an enlarge heart So now I'm going to check my sugars when this happen. Glad I read this story from you. Thanks for info.

enlarged heart / congestive heart causes swelling for sure…so for sure watch that :)

My Dr. suggested compression stockings for me. They keep
the swelling down. Some diabetic Rx can cause weight gain
and fluid retention so you might want to check with your Dr.

Sometimes swelling in the feet for a diabetic is also inactivity…circulation…its important to excersise and get the blood flowing…and for the feet swimming is especially good :)

Avoid being barefoot…but stay active :)

I used to have a problem with my feet swelling but since Dr. prescribed compression stockings, I do not have a problem, I have been wearing them for over 6years. Be the way I do hate them a lot, especially in hot weather, but the alternative is swelling, so I wear them. jackie

Work on getting your sugars down, and every chance you get, elevate your feet. Get back in control one day at a time, and one step at a time so it doesn't overwhelm you. You have control, don't let it control you.

I have the same problem, but my doctor says that the reason why my feet are swelling and my sugars are always elevated is because I never rest my feet, I am always busy going to school, cleaning house, and taking care of my nephews. He said to elevate my feet, watch my diet and check my sugars often.

Thank you for your response-I guess I'm in the same situation of never resting my feet. I seem to be out of control with the blood sugar issue. How do you get yours back into control?
