I am very anemic and I really do not like veggies unless they are raw or steamed. Frozen, or fresh not out of the can. I think if I could eat more veggies it might help my anemia…wouldnt it? I cannot be incontrol of what veggies I am offered or how they are cooked. So I feel like I am cooked.

I have never heard of the floradix formula. Is it like glucerna? I drink that some but it gives me the runs if I drink too much so I have cut back.

I forgot to ask my dr for an rx. I see my new dr Mon so maybe I can try to remember to ask her. If not I will just buy a good one a day vit.

turtle have u tried Floradix Formula? It is available in a natural health shop or maybe pharmacy and it has a bunch of vits as well as iron.
some herbs that may help are alfalfa, dandelion, nettle, and red raspberry are all good for anemia. the herbs are relatively inexpensive and i find as teas they can last a while. you would need to let the tea steep for a while though to get a good tea.

Yes I am allowed to have food in my room and I have a very small fridge and small area that is my kitchen. No stove but I have a microwave and toaster oven and coffee pot.

Are you allowed to keep food in your room? Can you put food in the kitchen there? I was thinking of the small bags of fresh
veggies such as carrots, cauliflower ect. I can see this would
be a problem. Are you on B-12? If you explain about the food
perhaps your Dr. will write orders for special foods.

My sister lives in a senior housing compound and gets dinner 5 days a week. She is also diabetic and but as much as she complains, they still only serve corn, peas and/or potatoes. She and other diabetics have tried to explain that starchy vegetables are not good for them but it seems to fall on deaf ears. Do you eat red meat - that's what I was told to eat when I was anemic.

I will see my dr on the 20th of Jan and I am going to ask her to rx for vits. so I will not have to pay for them. I have trouble taking iron as it makes my tummy sick.

You can try asking Dr for vit Rx, but you'll probably get the response that Medicare won't pay for OTC items. I don't think other insurers will either even if an Rx is written.

As far as veggies, the only thing which may help with anemia is anything with iron in it, like spinach. It is better to eat red meat, IMO.
