Do I try a trial?

I've been considering enrolling in a trial when I go for my next appointment a month from now. My numbers have been good and getting better. But, I would like to participate in something that others may benefit from. I'm not sure if that would put me at risk to mess up a treatment plan that is working well for me?! Or maybe things could be better yet? Anyone have experience with clinical trials? I plan on talking with my doctor, but would appreciate input from others.

I have taken part in several studies for various things and medical conditions over the years. Its interesting. If your Dr.
agrees and you want the experience go for it. If its a diabetic study and your numbers are good . You might
not stay in the study long. They are usually looking for people with high a1c.

It depends on the trial and entry requirements. If you have good control you will probably be excluded from it.

Wasn't sure if they would want to try something new, to see if the could get the same control or even better

I guess it all depends on what clinical trial it is. Most are supposed to be Dr. monitored. You should for sure run it by your Dr. first. If things don't go the way you would like, I'm sure you could drop out. Plus, most give a stipend for participating. Good luck.

I also started a trial, on cholesterol after getting my doctor's ok, but my levels did not go up high enough and I was dropped. I was feeling pretty good until the next blood test showed my cholesterol did go up and I would have qualified, but my doc put me back on the meds I had stopped. He decided to change me from Lipitor to Simvastatin since my numbers were good. He said I didn't need as strong a med.

Keep us posted on what you and your doctor decide. S2

I was asked to join a high blood pressure trial and discussed it with my doctyor and he said go for it. I will be interested to see what your doctor says.
