I do it for the carbs
food takes time to get into your sistem
Hope this helps

thanks :)
i wasn't sure. i was thinking for carbs as well as i didn't know how long it took for food to get in your system.

so if i have regular soda on way home from school and i get stuck in traffic and i get home like 1.5hr late i should do carb count?

First of all, I think you should really be careful on drinking the regular soda in the first place.

(I'm assuming that you're using a fast acting insulin like Humalog.) If you're not testing before you have the soda, and it's 1.5 hours later, yes, you should test and do a correction dose rather than simply dose for the carbs in the soda.

At least that's my take on it.
