I think I goofed

I went grocery shopping today, and as usual I avoided the candy and cookie aisles. But they had bing cherries. I coudn't resist them. I had just a few with my lunch, but the bag is calling "Donna Donna". I know I have to be careful with how many I eat, but they're fruit. They can't be that bad for me. can they? I know, moderation.

I read this whole thread and I now feel sick to my stomach. The part about ch. covered cherries and ch. covered ch. is halarious and sickening. Thank you all for a good laugh. Now MAYBE I will be able to stay away from chocolate for awhile…a day or two.

Would you be happy having a serving of cherries every time you can have a fruit? Just try to eat them like that; you'll get your cherries, and not ruin your BS. My guess is you'll be satisfied after of few days like this.

i think we all fall in temptation. i was dx mid nov 09 and since then didnt eat a single bite of chocolate (my biggest addiction and weakness) but i failed a couple of days i had a piece of cheesecake covered n chocolate i was doing so good and i was proud of myself for not eating it for almost 2 months but sometimes it is very hard for us, but we will learn from our experiences (i dont say mistakes) hopefully sooner than later. trust me u are not alone we have done that before

You really don't have to give up all chocolate. I have a couple of squares of Dark Chocolate (86%) every couple of days as my "dessert". Also a very good chocolate fix is sugar free chocolate almond milk with a little stevia. It is low carb and tastes pretty good. It can also be heated up to make hot chocolate.

I've heard others who say they eat a little bit of chocolate to satisfy their urge. I'm a chocoholic, I could not eat "a little bit". I'd eat all that I was in the house. So I don't buy it. I do eat the Atkins bars, which are covered with chocolate, but find myself going back for more of them. I just do better not having any at all.

That's my problem too. I'm a confirmed Chocoholic. If I even taste a little chocolate, I won't stop until every scrap is gone and I lick the wrappers.

My husband is the chocoholic in our house. However, I do get a craving for a little chocolate once in awhile. My husband buys the sugar free miniature chocolate bars for me, then he eats them all before I can even get any!!!! That makes me angry, "get your own!" LOL… He says' "sorry honey, they were really good!"

Don't like cherries, but I love chocolate covered chocolate, dipped in chocolate, with chocolate sauce on top, with a side of chocolate fudge!!

Im with Skip, I do the dark chocolate not that ofter every blue moon!! LOL! But all of us are different in what we consume daily, we have to be careful in doing so. Be strong everyone!! We got to stick together.

I'm type 2 so I can't really adjust my meds like the type 1 adjust insulin. And I keep telling myself it's not like I'm eating candy bars. But I think that is my problem, I know very well that candy is a no-no, but fruit is something we all need. It just takes self-control, which I run short of at times. My A1C went up a little this summer and I know it was the fruit I was eating.

I love the Bing Cherries too. And they make my BS go way up. So, I try to avoid them when I go grocery shopping… However, my 'wonderful' husband will bring in a bag full occasionally, and I will eat them until they are all gone. I just have to keep checking my BS, and do the adjustments…Not fun!!!! LOL

`We all share diabetes, but each of us reacts differently to
various foods. An example from my life is grapes. I can eat a 1/2cup of red grapes and it doesn't do much to my glucose.
If I eat green grapes in the same amount my bg goes way up.
