I saw a post where the writer said he did not know if it was ok to ask for prayer on this site.

I have asked for prayers for myself and others many times. I think it is appropriate as long as we respect that different people pray different ways and we are open to accepting that when we ask for prayer.

What do you think?

I've been in Church all my life & I think it's a good idea to ask for Prayer on Diabetic Connect been a Christian since Febuary 14, 1999 & going strong ever since :)

I find it both interesting and disappointing that of 216 views, there are only 17 replies and six likes. I think maybe God touched Salicee's heart and guided his/her hand to this Discussion. Turtle, I hope you've asked for Prayers when and where you wish. Being a Christian, I consider it appropriate to ask for prayers anywhere.

Thank you for those of you who shared your thoughts. I do not think anyone needs to feel afraid nor shamed for asking for prayer.

no matter who you are or what you believe there is always hope. If you have no hope then why are you here. We are all seeking for better and that is why we pray becauase we have hope. If there was no reason for prayer there would be no hope for better. It is completely as everyone who replied has said to look to people here for prayer and hope.

bes wishes

I agree with all that's been said. If not prayer, then how about putting some positive energy out there or even just a wish for the best? :)

Asking for prayers from virtual strangers, is no different than asking for their advice, suggestions etc. It does require faith that those prayers will be of benefit to you., and your prayers will be of benefit to those you pray for. I believe all who respond to those requests are sincere and truly want the best for that person. Those who might be offended, just like t.v. can change the channel. Prayer is the souls sincere desire.

Personally, I am not sure where I would be without everyones prayers. I am never ashamed to ask and if someone doesn't believe, they don't have to respond to me. No one on here should have to hide their religious beliefs, no matter what they are. I try to be respectful to everyone.

That was a very good response, and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am never ashamed to ask for prayers. A prayer line is the most powerful thing that we can have. I know that I can use all the help "I" can get, because there are some days, that I think, I am just not going to make it, and get very discouraged, but then I start praying for strength, and asking others to pray for me, and I make it through. My daughter gave this to me for Christmas; I have it hanging in my bathroom up over my bathtub, and I read it everyday. Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

Sally, that is so meaningful and I will keep that in my mind for myself too. Prayers are always the best medicine. Thanks again for this. Kathy

I think prayer is a very good thing to ask for. We are all on this site for a good reason. Love and understanding, friendship, and strength too.

At different times and at different situations in our lives we need all the help we can get and asking for prayers is very appropriate. It is not like asking for some physical item, it is asking for people to pray for your situation to help you out.

I thinkk that it is perfectly alright, after all every one who believes in their maker no matter how they believe or how they pray is their own and those who don't doesn't have to read they can always skip over. Soturtle just keep right on and I will be right beside you .May God bless you.You are so careing hugs

I think I said that Turtle but I was brand new to the site and didn't know anyone. Some sites don't want you to ask for prayer. I have never chatted with anyone on a site so was skeptical of what was ok and not. But now that I know everyone - I won't be afraid to ask anyone if I need help or have a question.Feels like home that I feel safe in and safe with you all. Thank you again for being there for me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with requesting prayer. If anyone doesn't like it, he or she can ignore it.

AddassaMari 2010-01-05 03:34:57 -0600 Report

It is proper to ask others to prayer for you. After the Apostle Paul asked his fellow Christians to pray for him.
