I checked my bg before dinner and it was 42. I could barely function. I inhaled my dinner because I was so hungry. I tried not to eat so fast but I ate fast any way.

Staff gave me 3 home made choco chip cookies at med time but I am still hungry.

JULIE - How I wish sometimes I could have a friend or two or more from here to come be with me and be my advocate. I do not do well at it for myself unfortuneatly. I need someone to hold my hand for awhile. Just love me as I am maybe. I am sounding pathetic. I will stop.

No you are not sounding pathetic. We all need unconditional love. You deserved to be loved and treated with respect.

Well Turtle, I think you have alot of friends on here…and we can help you…but you NEED to find a friend there, to help you and watch out for you. I see alot with my job..and everyone HAS to have some one to be there in person with them and for them. I dont know all of your story…Im new here…But dont ever think you sound pathetic…you dont .

Of course you are NOTpathetic!! But I can understand why you might think that as all of our lives we are trained to NOT complain, it isn't just for the boys, "don't cry"! Well we all know where that train of thought can lead us, and YOU ARE NOT ALONE! What about that one nurse that turned nice when she carried your gift in to you!! Unfortunately, bribes do help!! Maybe we could all send you cards and letters and overflood their nurses' office, maybe if they knew that you had so many friends that they will be accountable to, it might help!! Will continue to pray for you, Robbin!! PR

turtle…I know what you mean about eating everything in sight…one time when low I ate a one pound box of cherry chocolates, and yes I did feel sick the rest of the day…regards packrat2

oh packrat - how sick you must have been!!!

I had another low this am and staff would not believe me…they made me recheck. Well my doc said to check first thing in the am before I do anything. I am being written up for that. I will talk to Dani the head nurse as soon as she is on a reg shift. Tomorrow I hope. My life feels turned upside down recently for some reason. I do not feel trusted or loved. I guess that sounds stupid. Why should staff love me. Maybe valued is a better way to put it.

Oh, Dear, Turtle, I am so sorry that they don't believe you, there is nothing more dangerous than not being believed. Can't your Dr make it a daily order? We always had one in the hospital on our diabetic pts, more than just once a day —four times in fact! Hugs, PR

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words. It has been a little low off and on since then. When I ate lunch today, I was so hungry I guess I was not eating slow enough and I bit a big bite in my cheek. That hurts and it is still bleeding. I have a headache too. My numbers are back up so I think I am ok, at least for now. My body is just reacting to the lows I have had.

That whole prosess is so TIRING, Robbin! Rest, and do your thing, sweet lady!! Oh, I had to tell you that I got Corky a new BED—I THOUGHT that is was big enough—-NOT, She was so excited about getting it, she TRIES to CURL up in it with her head hanging out over it—-I was just thinking of Sunny too, they look about the same size, so if you need a laugh, just imagine Sunny in abed—too small—-yet affectionatlly trying to please her buddy!! Looking up at you with those big brown eyes, "yow, if you say it is big enough, surely it is"—-then a few wags of her tail! haha—Love you , Turtle and hopefully you can get lined out again!! Hugs, Pat R

I hope your feeling better. That is the most awfull feeling ever and scarry. If my bs gets low like that ( not very often) I want to eat everything in sight…then I feel sick the whole rest of the day. They told me eat 1-2 servings of carbs and wait 15 min and then check your bs. but dont eat any more than that…easier said than done.

Hi, robbin! Sorry about your low, the only time I have one is when it is medically induced with Glipizide, had it hit 42, and lower—-wondered why I was so sweaty, ears ringing—etc as that was new to me, as the highs had been the only problem I had until they put me on glipizide. I need to consult with my Dr after Jan 15th, when Medicare will pay for it, once every 3 months, I think it is—-have learned how to manage it by cutting the Glipizide in 1/4ths—-but probably isn't the thing to do over a long period of time. nighty night!
