Nicki the next "incarnation" (#22) of this discussion is up and running. Hope to see you there!

Glad your holidays were good! ~James ~ <

What?? I don't understand.

jayabee52 2010-01-17 07:27:25 -0600 Report

there is another "Good Morning Afternoon or Evening" page up and running (#22) because its too long and people don't want to scroll down to the bottom cause it takes so long. Most everyone who WAS here is now posting on #22. Here's the link:

You might get pretty lonely here if you don't come to #22 and you may wonder where'd everybody go?

The fish symbol is my way of showing that I agreed with your comment about not being affected much by bad news for some reason (Jesus Christ.)
blessings ~James~

Good morning to all my friends at DC and everyone else here too! :)
Beautiful day in Maine today. Was balmy here yesterday, too. But…snow on the way for Sunday into Monday and a bigger storm on Wednesday. I knew almost 2 weeks without snow was too good to be true! lol
Sal :)

Good Evening you all. I wanted to wish Jem a belated happy birthday James. Got good news at Dr. today for BG. She says with the numers and changes in my diet that I have made so far thanks to this site that she feels if she just raises my glybride and to keep taking my metaformin that my sugar will get to where it is suspose to be. So that made me feel good. My knee is healing pretty well with desolving stitches but ended up with a double blood filled tape blister so have to be careful that my chauhuahua doesn't scratch it or I will be in a world of infection so I wrap it for now. The Dr. said it will go away on its own. I hope so as I have never had anything that looked like that before. So all in all I still hurt but bare it with my pain pills and my spirits are up again thanks to all of you. Just wanted to let you all know what was going on. Kathy

jayabee52 2010-01-14 22:21:52 -0600 Report

Actually Kathy you made it BEFORE midnight here, so Your birthday wishes are NOT belated. She says thanks to EVERYONE who wished her a happy birthday!

I am tickled you got such a good report. The blisters sound nasty. I pray they don't get infected! Thanks for the update Kathy!

Hello all. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.So nice to se so many friends on this Discussion-brings back fond memories.Tell me how are all of you doing/ ? I hope you are all doing well. For the past yr or so I've been having a number of problems that are the result of many yrs of poor bs control.Guess it's time for me to pay up.I am going to physicial thapy 3x/wk for low bacck pain that radiates down my hamstrings. I also found out that I have delayed stomach emptying, retinopathy and the beginnings of trigger fingers.Things have gotten a bit nasty.I urge those of you who are still early in this illness to profit from my yrs of denial and poor choices. Consider buying a book,Diabetes Solution by Dr Richard Bernstein,a diabetic himself (T1). It has helped me a lot -better late than never. Please stay well and God Bless . Pete/P2putt.

Deb-G 2010-01-14 14:04:14 -0600 Report

Dear Pete ~ I'm so sorry you are experiencing so many difficulties right now and can only hope that one by one you find solutions and stay well…So much wisdom in your words…Diabetes is a silent desease until its much progressed…Its so important to take care of all aspects of it from diet, to exercise, to all the little issues that creep up…Denial is so very common for ALL of us…Thank you for reminding us to take care of ourselves…and in the meantime…Please take care of you :)

P2putt 2010-01-15 22:26:30 -0600 Report

Thank you so very much and please continue,in your own way to caution the newly diagnosed and be good to yourselves . My best to all of you. You are a treasure. Pete

AddassaMari 2010-01-14 14:25:58 -0600 Report

Hi Pete I am sorry to hear that things have not being going well for you. It is kind of you, even in your distress, to sound this warning for us and remind us how critical it is to quickly come to grips with our condition and take care of ourselves, because denial is detrimental to our health. I have put that book on my "wish list" and will be getting it next week. I will keep you in my prayers. All my best to you always.

Good Mornin Midget and all!
It's after midnight here on the Pacific coast, so time to go to bed. I plan to MAKE it a good day, especially for my "Jem" because it is her birthday today. Last night she cancelled the trip to the heart clinic later today due to some other (unmentionable) problems, so my plans went out the window, but I'll adjust. Make it a wonderful day y'all!

I have heard of Australias big drouth! i am so sorry for you as I am a survivor of the Dust Bowl days in western Ks during the dirty thirtys, I was born in 1932, the first year that the dirt took off. I just watched a documentary and it said BLACK SUNDAY, when that horrible dust storm hit even the EAST coast, was in 1934, april , I think—-I REMEMBER very well most of the details even tho I was a tot—trying to breathe thru a wet hanky, I carry scars to this day in my lungs, one reason I am now on oxygen, but thankful that it is available.!! I was so Sick with bronchitis for over a solid year that I couldn't set up and feed myself, my mom made a pallet for me on our cement kitchen floor and hand fed me—-too weak to go to school (first grade) took me to Wichita, in those days unheard of —a Specialist!! but he said that I didn't have TB, but bronchitis.

So my heart goes out to ALL who suffer shortages of rain, I KNOW where that can lead!! Best of LUCK an Prayers!! Pat R

one morning i think about maybe three months ago i woke up around 5.30am and looked out of my window and there was this eerie glow outside. i thought criky maybe it is armegeddon bec it was still and the light was just spooky. went out and the whole sky was just red.
couldnt see the sun nothing and cars were covered in red dust. winds had brought the dust from over a thousand miles.
dear pat, you have been through a lot. have you written down all your stories? make sure you keep yourself covered up and warm in the cold.

Not really—-my hands have been too sore to write much, but can now type on this site quite a bit—it would give me a goal, as I love to write. We laughed at our little club meeting last night, I was so SHORT of BREATH, had to take my portable bottle, and I then asked the "girls" 'who would ever think that I would run out of air!! I thought I was talking enough to help keep me charged up!! ha-PR

The temperature went above freezing today - our January thaw. They are predicting it will be in the mid-30's for a few days. I hope it doesn't get too warm too fast or some places will flood. Not here, but along some of the rivers.

AddassaMari 2010-01-12 21:07:41 -0600 Report

Well so much for Texas' winter, it is currently 48 degrees here. It was a gloriously beautiful day, was going to do some much needed gardening, but it was too nice a day. We are expecting rain starting tomorrow, so I will get into the garden first thing in the morning.

jayabee52 2010-01-12 22:02:55 -0600 Report

Donna, where are you at that it may flood along the rivers?

donna13 2010-01-13 08:58:08 -0600 Report

I live in IL - don't know if there is danger of river flooding yet, but know that is always a possibility when we get a thaw. We seem to have a lot of snow accumulated. I have piles in my yard that are 3 ft or more. We went so long with temps below freezing that it hasn't melted away gradually like it usually does.

Pat Roth
Pat Roth 2010-01-13 10:13:58 -0600 Report

Are diabetic jokes similar to BLONDE jokes? ahha—And as for that light bulb thing, it takes one to get the ladder, another to hold it steady, and one to catch the light bulb as it falls down, and another to screw it in—-can you count that far?? hahaPR

Here comes the sun! (I love that song…)

After days of bitter cold, snow, and clouds, how lovely to have sunshine again here in the Midwest! Or, at least, we're SUPPOSED to have sunshine…still dark now but I know Old Sol is coming…what a relief! And he's bringing warmer temperatures. We may get above freezing today!

Have a good one!

We are having a heat wave. Its 17degresses and the snow
has stopped. We got 15 inches with the last storm. We have
between 4-5 feet on the ground at present. Its winter in Wisconsin. The roads are now open and the children are
back in school. Last week they had 3 days off due to the storm.
