Gawd did someone turn over a rock?

Their free ads need to be deleted quicker and banned for life.

Oh for Pete's sake guys!! let up, loosen up—-to each his own! Go with your gut and heart, buy, if you choose, listen and learn, then get about other business! It sounds like the insults are just trying to outdo each other—-no room here for that, PLEASE! It is even getting to ME, and it takes a lot of this baloney to get under my thick hide!!———Patricia Ann ROth!!

Pat and everyone: As I read the T.O.U. looking for the prohibition of sales postings I think I remember something about not criticizing or demeaning others on the website. I can go look for it if I need to. I'd rather NOT, but I will if this sniping continues. Kinda reminds me of me and my brothers when we got sniping at each other when we were kids. I sincerely hope we can get past this to more harmonious communications.

I would like to mention that I have a product to sell but I restrain myself from posting the name or website. I've mentioned several times that I write science fiction books and my books aren't selling well. Yet I haven't mentioned the titles of the books or where to buy them. I take the terms of use seriously.

OOh, that is initeresting, Elrond! Science fiction—-takes a special mind to think of such—-as for me, I keep starting to read a good book, but my housework interferes, and there is always a meal to fix—-if you could come up with a way to get a meal without my moving—-maybe a robot—-that would be special too! haha—Best Wishes for a Good day—-got bills to make out—better get moving—see what Imean??! ha PR

We all know this disease takes hard work and never giving up on what we KNOW works. But any disease that shortens the life or causes pain, etc. will quickly be hit on the unscrupulous. It's gone on for decades. The secret is to be diligent and don't fall for those who try to convince us they have the "miracle cure".

Tita 2009-12-20 14:50:46 -0600 Report

I hope you all realize that when someone finds a product, or whatever, that helps them, maybe even changes their life, it is natural to want to share their experience with others who may be helped. That may mean becoming a distributor or simply taking part in a discussion. It is unfair to automatically label someone a "sleazy snake oil salesman" just because they may profit from that sharing. I do realize that isn't allowed on this site, but you should do your own research or you may miss out on something great.

I visited the site whole raw food. net. There isn't health issues.
Its a site to sign up sales help. I don't see this as anything that
belongs on a great site . D.C. is a site for sharing with caring
people. Not an advertisement site. Spiritwalker

Thank you and John for pointing out the material in the T.O.U . I in no way ment to breech these rules. I only wish to inform and educate others on the alternatives avaliable. I believe in what I have found to be a true mircale in my life and my familys. I will remove any references to the business side of the product and will if allowed to, only post the materials presenting the health and nutritional materials. I will also check into how to become and approved materials provider thru the DC site
And no its not snake oil , it's a real all natural food and everyone needs to know about it.

We are all looking for new things that might help us, and then have to see someone trying to make a buck off those who get their hopes up. You have a great site here, too bad they can't read when they sign up.

if i (and apparently i did) break a rule i am sorry, however i stated only the truth about what it did for me and others. please dont let my being a distributor stop you from looking into it because it works. When i decided to try the insulin pump a few years ago it was recomended to me from a person who wore one and when the medtronic rep visited me she ws using one but i did not think that their were sleaze because they used the product they were selling, keep an open mind, do some research and you too may learn something helpful

its not just you, there seems to be a hoard of individuals and companies who think diabetics are desparate and easy targets.

I'm really tired of peope who join and their first post is centered around trying to sell something.

There are a lot of folks dealing with this disease that are vulnerable, scared, frustrated, and looking for anything that might help them. I'm not aginst trying something new but if you are selling something or can profit by it pay for advertising.

sharing your personal experience is one thing, trying to make a buck off from us is another. I think we have an obligation to be wary and skeptical of snake oils and magic potions. We need to protect ourselves and newbies who are still learning.

jayabee52 2009-12-19 15:04:14 -0600 Report

I feel the way AntiqueDave does about the folks who try to sell their stuff here, but when I signed up that prohibition was NOT all that prominent on the sign up agreement. (I want to BE CLEAR that I AM NOT a salesperson NOR DO I HAVE ANYTHING TO SELL ~~ But say this in fairness to those who try to sell here ~ not that I like it and have told some folks they were breaking the Terms of Use [T.O.U.] agreement)

Perhaps that should be brought up a bit more prominently. I had looked for it later ~when I wanted to show some other salesperson selling on this site the rule~ and it was buried somewhere in the middle of the TOU. It was not very prominent (really only 2 lines) and I had to hunt for a while to find it.

Here it is: "Posting or transmitting unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation to other users is prohibited. Inquiries regarding a commercial relationship with should be directed to: small "

Perhaps there should be a separate check box explaining that there are to be no sales people promoting their wares on this site unless they get clearance through the management of the site, much like it is now with an email address to contact management. And if they do not check the box agreeing to the no sales clause, then they are not allowed in. That might deter many, (but certainly not all).

The way it is now, it is NOT AT ALL CLEAR that there is not to be selling for personal benefit unless one looks THOROUGHLY at the T.O.U. I certainly wasn't aware of such a limitation when I first was on here until someone else pointed out to a salesperson that it was against the T.O.U. agreement.

I usually don't read that stuff myself when signing up for a website. Maybe I should but I usually don't, and I doubt that many others read the legalese either.

2009-12-19 15:38:09 -0600 Report

I looked as did you and i really did not see the section prohibiting it but since you mentioned i agree. if anyone wants to investigate Immunocal thru the internet and not thru me that is ok with me because my interest is in helping other diabetics come to know what i have come to know
Thank you for your considerate response.

jayabee52 2009-12-19 15:54:59 -0600 Report

Dan, please re read my previous reply as I have edited my reply and have included the lines from the T.O.U. agreement which tells us its a no-no. Its about the middle of the TOU about 11 or 12 paragraphs from the top starting with: "Gathering email addresses from "

And I don't think it is YOU specifically that others were complaining about. There are several here trying to get a "leg up". If I were a sales person I might be tempted to do something like this too.

2009-12-19 16:12:07 -0600 Report

thats ok I figured it must be in there because of all the stink it caused. I am not really offended by the reaction just embarassed that I missed it in the TOU. I am happy to discuss the science behind what i am saying with anyone, even those who were previously offended and help anyone to find the pertinent online studies to help people understand

2009-12-19 16:15:22 -0600 Report

thanks for the email, i will contact them because it may be a worthwhile endeavor to advertise here. The only problem I see is that if I am advertising on site they may not like me posting discussions which would stop the learning process by those interested in OS and its relation to diabetic complications. I will have to check that out

Were you interested in selling something, Jayabee? Guess I don't read thoroughly either, I didn't FEEL a red flag go up when I read your posts—-PR

jayabee52 2009-12-19 18:41:26 -0600 Report

NO I didn't and don't have anything to sell.

My BASIC point was that the DC site COULD be a lot more UPFRONT about warning people who seek to use this site to sell their wares. Currently the 2 sentences which deal with the prohibition is buried under 11 or 12 paragraphs down in the middle of legalese that MOST people don't bother to read. I have NO PROBLEM with the prohibition WHATSOEVER other than that.

I sincerely hope that the "powers that be" at D.C. reworks it so that it is something more prominent in the registration process, like a specific check box saying something like: "I agree that the 'Posting or transmitting unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation to other users is prohibited.'" (to use the phrase from the Terms Of Use agreement).

I am glad you didn't feel a red flag go up, Pat, because I wasn't selling anything. ~James
