Hi all…

Quick question…wondering if any of you have been to Mayo in MN and have any recommendations on stay, etc…I am not familiar with the area and will be flying there Mid-Jan to meet their Endocrinology Dept, and more…

Looking more to be warned of any crappy lodging to avoid, and things of that nature…They make my 5-day schedule so that is what it is..but I have to plant myself somewhere and I want to make it a good place lol

Thx for any tips!

I work at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Yes, it will be cold but the whole clinic as well as most downtown hotels and restaurants and shops are connected by skyways or underground tunnels, so not to worry!
Many patients appreciate the Marriot or the DoubleTree in downtown as they are connected to the skyway system. The Kahler hotel is right across the street but some of their rooms are small and need updating. There is also a Hilton Garden Inn and a Holiday Inn connected via skyway. We have plenty of nice dining choices- Pescara and Chesters are a couple of our favorites downtown. 300 First or Redwood Room are also nice but you will need to walk or drive to those. There is a fun Barnes and Noble that is located in an old movie theater that you will want to check out!
Hope you have a worthwhile trip to Mayo, we are very proud of the patient centered care that people get here!

Laura…thank you so much for your reply! This is so helpful!…I am making note of everything :) I must admitt I'm a bit freaked out but I know i'm going to the best place possible…I'm hopeful and terrified at the same time lol…I am awaiting my schedule and hope it arrives today so I can have a look at how my days will go…Last we spoke they had 5-days planned so I wanted to make sure I scouted out arrangements and figured someone on here would likely have guidance to give…

I appreciate it so much!

Mayo here I come :D

For sure…but I'm in the Chicago area so i'm totally use to the deadly wind chills and 30 below winters…BRRRRR!…I'm originally from Boston, and although there's more snow there, its not as bitterly (and painfully) cold there! My hand warmers are ready! lol
