does anyone have a connection to get a free medical braclet or necklace? I feel I need one to identify my illness, I carry my insulin and test kit with me and neither have a medical label on them, I feel if I got stopped they would see the meds and no identifaction, plus if I got in to a situation I need help. Everywhere I check they are very expensive 21.00 and up I cant afford that, you would think some company would provide them.

That last link was a fundraising link. If you were going to buy 250 of them it would be perfect…but, I assume you only want one or two. I found another link that is low priced, but they market themselves as providers of pet tags. There is a sample of metal tag, round, for $3.98. Anyway, here is the link. Hope you solve this id thing. http://www.loveyourpets.com/home/lp1/viewcart

Do you carry a purse or wallet? I had a hard time wearing bracelets and necklaces, so I just keep a card in my purse that identifies my disease, my doctors number, my parent's/husband's numbers…

Anyway, just a thought if you're trying to save money…

A couple of people have mentioned tattoos; is there a universally accepted place to have medical info tattooed on the body where it will be looked for?

The people who I have seen with tatoos have put them on the back of thier wrist, just above the hand..
As for braclets I would go thru one every couple of month while I was working electronic assembly..The ones from over the counters type.
Now I went up on the Ebay and found a very nice stainless steel one which has two RED STAR links
and a DIABETIC link. It cost about $20 but the bracelet not come off untill u stretch it..Its like a watch band.

Thanx! I have always just carried a card in my wallet and a sticker on my license, but everyone here has convinced me to also wear a bracelet! Lots of Love, Renee :)

It's not free but I got mine from www.coolidtags.com I think it was $7.95 plus shipping and let me specify 6 lines of text. Since I had so much to say, the last line is: See Wallet Notice. In my wallet is a paper with a list of all the meds I take including my insulin schedule and specific hospital instructions and contact info for doctors and next of kin.

I found mt first necklace at a Walmart pharmacy. It says
Diabetic. Its not personalized, but comes with an emergecy
card for purse or wallet. I saved until I could afford a good
one. There are also some stores that have machines that
let you create up to three line of print on a a medal . They
look like arms services tags. I Live an a rural area. I've
seen these machines at a walmart and at Shopko stores.
Good luck finding one. Spiritwalker

I've had several…The cheapy ones at say CVS Pharmacy etc are stainless..and i'm pretty active so when I got hot, or sweat it would make my skin break out where the plate would lay…I've also had a sterling one that did the same…the CVS ones run from $19 up…Sterling are expensive…and then I had a friend refer me to www.RoadID.com …these are athletic type I.D. bands used for all types of Identification or alerts…I have the simple wrist bands in several colors ($19) and love them and they last well after work outs, camping, hiking, biking, softball, you name it…they dont make me break out and the colors are kind of fun…They now make a newer one that is an elastic band like all the support your cause type wrist bands but those are $29 and I haven't tried them…the original washes well, dry's well, takes weather well…and I'm rough on it and it lasts forever…They also have shoe clips and other options…Great for the athlete or just someone looking to be protected i think :)

Hope that helps a little…I dont think you will find anything under $20 but if your wearing it all the time, day after day, its worth the investment so that you do wear it :)

I agree with you that its a good idea! :)
