Diagnosed Type 2 in June. The doctor's at the hospital figured that since I am an RN, I would know all about diabetes. Learningabout it in school and actually having it are two different things. I enjoy coming to this site, it has been very helpful.

I am a retired nurse. I am a type2, have been since the 1980's.
What I learned in school was of little help. However, we had a
good Diabetes Clinic where I was employed. Sites like this
one make it easy to share and learn from people walking the
walk. It makes all the difference!

I agree! I've been Type 2 diabetic for ten years and just recently found this site. The advice from people who are dealing with this disease is SO helpful. Like Hinboyz3, I'm now visiting daily. Finding this "community" with the support the people offer one another here has been great.

I understand just what your saying, Im going to school now for nursing and it is a whole different story when it comes to your own body, But we can learn and follow through and come out just fine. I enjoy the site to I visit it daily and I love the different people from all over the world we are able to talk to about the same thing we have. I was diagnosed Oct. 2009 type 2, so I was thrown for a loop too.
