Well I had started going to the gym but these last three days i haven't been able to asist because my feet hurt, the pain is really bad, my big toenail exploded all by itself and i can hardly walk, first my feet got swollen and they hurt, then i got a black and blue in my toenail without hurting myself and today the nail just couldn't take the pressure and it exploded at the border now it doesn't hurt but my feet are killing me can hardly stand! So this has me down and starting to get depressed again…

I knew of a lady who died from a simple cut on her finger—-just before Penicillin was discovered, and she wasn/t even a diabetic! So how much worse when diabetic gets a sore FOOT! PR

Remember that in a diabetic, any infection, particurlarly in the feet, is very serious. When it gets bad enough for the skin to turn black, it's past time for playing around. SEE A DOCTOR, even if it means a trip to the ER. I haven't seen anybody mention it here but diabetes is the number one cause of amputations. Most of those amputations begin with a small infection. Don't waste time.

As a health professional I realize how difficult it can be to get help on the weekend, but I wouldn't wait!!! You need to get this looked at NOW.

I agree. If I wasn't nearly 3,000 miles from her, I'd pick her up and drag her to the nearest hospital.I can only hope she obtains treatment in time.

Im glad to hear your doing a little better, and finally got a little rest. I know how it is about the doctors on the weekends. Hopefully things will be even better by the time you get in to see the doctor on monday. Just keep doing what your doing, and keep your friends informed of your progress.

WOW!! I would have been at the ER NOW! That sounds so horribly painful and dangerous! I have never heard of it but common sense says that isn't GOOD! My bladder blew out of me onenight taking my bath, I didn't know what it was, but I automatically shoved it back in, then gasped—-what was THAT??!! Went to Dr and had surgery shortly—-never know——sorry, that doesn't have anything to do with diabetis, but it was a SURPRISE!! TAKE CARE!! PR

I reacted the way i did because the black skin and her description of the toe 'exploding' are classic symptoms of gas gangrene. That is nothing to mess around with using home remedies. She needs professional medical help fast if she's going to avoid amputation. If I'm wrong, sue me but diabetes is the number one cause of amputations. Gangrene can also be deadly if not treated promptly.
