I'm new to being diabetic, I'm also use to being outside most of the time. I was out this evening grilling and didn't realize my feet were froze till my legs and hips started hurting really bad. I came in and took my shoes and socks off . My feet were very cold to the touch a bluish white colour. With the neuropathy in my feet I didn't notice they were getting cold I gave it no thought. Is there any other warning signs I can watch for to keep this from happening and possibly lose my feet to serve frost bite?

It's been my experience that cold weather MAKES neuropathy worse; not just that a person has to be careful not to get too cold; but that you can go from being comfortable to miserable with just several degrees less in temp. Besides the pain; it seems to me that joints in knees and fingers, wrists, etc actually stiffen up. Nothing I've found except warming up.

Well, here in Arizona, we don't get that cild. But even sitting inside with the a/c going, my feet will turn ice cild if I'm not watching them. Dress warm, and try to keep them dry.

Take care and watch those FEET! Our son, in his forties and healthy, was outside digging up his Elephant Ear bulbs the other day, they were wet, and cold, he couldn't feel his hands, went and looked at the thermometer and it was 25 degrees!!! So pay attention to that thermometer, it may be trying to tell you something, even if your feet aren't. PR

Im sorry that this has happen to you, but we do have to be very careful when being outside in the frosty weather. We have to make sure that we dress accordingly cause if we don't we start to have various problems. So take care of yourself and please keep us informed.
