How can my blood sugar go thru the roof after eating aspartame? Since the liver stores sugar, perhaps my sudden highs came from my liver or what else? Out of a group of about 12 there are two others who get headaches and they are NOT diabeticsl Sounds like some big trouble!

It seems I read a while back that for some people, artificial sugars 'trick' the body into thinking they're real and some respond the same way as to real sugar.
Personally I stay away from as many chemicals as possible. I was warned about aspartame decades ago by a chemist friend who'd worked with it. And it gives me heartburn so… I try to avoid it.

Talk to a dietitian, nutritionist and or doctor regarding the sugar substitutes, sugar free and diet drinks.

Unless you are just eating pure aspartame you must be eating or drinking something else. As a type 1 that could very easily be the reason for the change in blood sugar.
