I feel hungry all the time. I think it must be from my depression or my meds but I cannot snack the way I want to or I will gain so much more weight I will look in the mirror and hate myself! I bit my fingernails down as short as they would go the other day so I would not eat food. It did not help my appitite.

I need some home made sf carmels and a store just down the street has them but I cannot afford them. argh!!!

All the suggestions are good , one thing I've found is we are vitamin and mineral hungry ,we have to have a better than average suppliment, or our bodies on inner system causes a desire for water and or foods. Always make sure it's not thirst first, then try the raw veggies or a low sodium v-8 tends to help me.

Try chewing some sugar free gum. That helps me when I feel hungry. It is just something about my keeping my mouth busy with chewing gum that keeps my mind of of being hungry. Extra is a good brand and it has only 5 calories per stick.

You are right, extra is good and the taste lasts forever! I am chewing big red..my dad sent me a care package recently and sent a bunch of big red. I do not know why I cannot get him to understand I want and need sf gum. He is a diabetic that does not take good care of himself.

You all have some nice ideas. I have difficulty swallowing carrots so I stay away from them but celery gives a godd crunch and I like to add p-butter on them for some protein.

Sad note for me is no money to go to the store. I have popcorn and enjoy that with a good movie.

i can agree with the hungry part. it seems somedays i stay that way all day long. I may go to the fridge and open and close the door 20 or so times just to tell myself no and then finally eat something i shouldn't when i probably would have been better off just eating a little snack of something i fixed up just for that purpose. I think that making your snacks ahead wether its carrot sticks or peanutbutter crackers or whatever might help to keep making healthier choices.

Turtle,
Carrot sticks are also very good. Unfortunately, I only like carrots cooked but many people love them raw and really savor the crunch. There are many raw veggies that are not only good for you, they fill you up and can help satisfy the urge to munch. Most are rich in fiber and minerals too. And it beats the hell out of potato chips or a chocolate bar. (chocolate is my personal downfall) Just hang in there; we're all on your side :)
