First, let me say that there is no such as "blowing it", in one night. As long as you know you made mistakes, there is still time to learn from them. Alcohol does turn to straight sugar in the blood, so be careful with that. And as far as the weight goes, if you have started eating the several times per day, just make sure that these small meals stay small. And get a conversions chart from an endocrinologist! See ya in the funnies!

We all think we are blowing it but your blood sugar readings tell the story with your abaic level (90 day average). I trust only the readings and 90 day averages because my body trys to trick me into thinking I'm hungary or sometimes it knows better than I and I'm dragged along toward its goal so join the crowd and enjoy the ride.

You are not alone we all have those crazy days, where we want to just take out stress and do what we want to do. Even I go thru that every now and then. But we have to get right back on track and stick with it cause we know it s for the best and we want to get better. So just try to hold on and do the best that you can. Baby steps is a good way to go, don't try to step so big at first. And do use this site to lean on your good friends here, thats what we are here for and day or time.

Who doesn't pig out once in a while? Now that you have had a one day pity party, pick yourself up, give yourself a good talking to (and listen) and get back on the wagon. I am struggling to loose weight myself and joined weight watchers. I am hoping that this week I will finally be at the 5% mark. Portion control and exercise are the keys for me. Also really think about why you overate and see if it was emotional eating and try to come up with stragies that you can do instead of pigging out. Good luck. Keep us posted.

I noticed on one of your first notes, you said you were recovering from a eating disorder too. I would think you are going to have a tougher time than most trying to eat the right things and enough of it and not fight your feeling of geting fat! You are going to have to find a very good dr who will listen to both sides of your problem. Hang in there and dont give up!

hi Longornmom ,

I'm following your posts. So far I understand you had anorexia problem and then you were diagnosed as a diabetic and now your problem is gaining wight.
In this case I believe that you are already underweight than your optimum weight. For everybody in the world , there is an optimum weight which meaning the weight the body feels strong and healthy with. Now your problem is ; your body is feeling weak and unhealthy so that trying to reach to the optimum weight.Trust me you must let it.Now the body is under stress as you are trying not to gain weight and does not know what to do when you eat.I believe this also turns back to you as unsteady blood sugar. What can I suggest you is to let your body to gain some weight by eating good and healthy foods in a regular base.7-8 meals a day , with small portions but good food. You can check previous discussions to see what the good foods for you.On the other hand something surprised me…You say you don't want to gain weight but you also say you ate pizza? You seem you are lost and do not know what to do.As the first thing clear up your mind and pls save your body from this weight stress.Let it to gain some weight . A FEW POUNDS ARE NOT IMPORTANT THAN YOUR HEALTH.And non of us are top models who making money with our bodies. You will see that you will stop gaining weight when your body feels healthy again. And I also guess that your blood sugar will be more steady.
Pls do it before it's too late.

longhornmom, it's not too bad but you do need to work on your control. The pizza should be about 22 grams of carb per slice. It's been so long since I drank beer or wine that I couldn't begin to tell you the results of those but the alcohol does lower blood sugar so that tends to offset some of the carbs. See if your endo doc can set you up with a nutritionist or other diabetes educator. There's no need to starve yourself or even give up yummy food. I just stuffed myself on some delicious beef stew I made myself and the carb count was only 29 grams. The count would have been lower but I just couldn't resist some white potatoes. If you're trying to lose weight, you can keep your carbs very low eating lean meats and salads. If you watch the labels, you can get a lot of veggies tossed in there too. The biggest boo-boo is the add-ins. I just love corn-on-the cob drenched with butter. Of course, corn is a starchy vegetable to begin with but the butter is verbotten. We all have to make our sacrifices. So far, I have all the parts I was born with and I prefer to keep it that way. My real wake-up call was a stroke at the age of 43. Then it was underlined by a heart attack 10 years later. I take this diabetes very seriously now. Please take care of yourself! We like having you here.

thanks I like all my new friends, yes I think Iam going to go full force tomorrow and eat lots of salad and lean meats and veggies, Iam not much of a red meat eater, and I want to keep my weight down Iam wearing size two and four and want to stay petite, I would die rather than to get big,so I guess if I concentrate on that type of foods and get busy on my gym routine again I will be fine. my jeans felt kinda of tight today I guess from the big change and the eating so much, see I feel sweaty tonight I think my insulin level is to high because, I aways feel this way at night after my second dose of insulin, I cant wait to get to the doctor on monday.

Hi I did mention it to you about a book that will help you. I am a type 2 yet my body respond as a type one. I used to have to take 2 type of insulin humalog and lantis and my.
AC1 was 19 and my BC range from 300 to 500 and as low as 40. Now I can not go any lower that 75 by this point I'm crashing. As mush as I watch what I can and cannot eat I still go up and down. In October I was put on a pump and now I am in so much control, I have a life. My BC is great 90 to 120. The best thing for you is to understand about carbs, mind u even veggies have carbs. You will need to get a diabetic management teacher. or have your doctor to make a carb scale for you. Take care
