I am very excited today and just want to share it! Today I hit the 25lb weight loss milestone. I was diagnosed August 13th and have been working on it ever since. Every day is an adventure, but the hard work is so worth it. I am anxious to get my A1c in January.

Question: I'm a Type 1 diabetic and would like to lose a few pounds (okay, around 20 - to get back to my college weight - or at least pretty close!). Any suggestions? I have a real problem with balancing weight loss (decrease in carbohydrates) versus hypoglycemia. And of course once hypoglycemic its food to combat. The old vicious cycle. I would very much appreciate any helpful ideas.

I have lost 76 lbs since being diagnosed in February. I bought the book from calorieking.com and I kept a journal of what I ate and my blood sugars. I stick to the serving sizes on the nutrition label(very hard to do sometimes). I track calories, fats and carbs. It was fairly easy once I got going. Now I don't write down what I eat unless I start to gain weight. Also, I would like to lose another 100 lbs.

Congratulations! I take encouragement with what you did. I need to lose 20 pounds, and after seeing this PLUS watching "The Biggest Loser" finale last night, I am ready to go. My doctor is sending me back to the dietician to go over my diet. Every time I try to lose on my own I have too many blood sugar lows…which scare me sometimes.
