I have been a diabetic since 2000 and I am on numberous medications. My doctor wants to put me on insulin, but I am scared. Can someone give me some advise as to how to get my blood sugar down.

I have been on insulin for several years now and at first i too was worried and upset, but now it is just part of my life. there are ways to make it easier ask you dr about using a pen instead of drawing it up the old way. watch your diet and increase happens to most diabetics sooner or later but it is do-able and can really help managing you sugar

I absolutley did not want to go on insulin and fought it tooth and nail. Now that I am on it, I wish I had done it sooner. It is nice to have my sugar at a more even keep and I truly feel better. I did not think it gives me liberty to eat things that I shouldn't but feel that it is a constant reminded of eating the way I should. Actually I recently had to reduce my insulin because I am eating well and was having too many lows. Taking insulin is not as bad as you fear.

i have been diabetic for 38 yrs on insulin i didnt have a choose sometimes you just do what you have to do i know it is harder being dx later you have a lot to give up darn it the first step is to make good food choices the more you do it the more automatic it becomes once you make those choices without thinking you have it made no one is prefect cheat in moderation just taste it is the holidays again shots are scary in the begging i still remeber but that too i can do now with my eyes closed lol hope i helped hugs julie
