Does the onset of diabetes come with yeast infections?

High sugars feed the yeast bacteria and yup, you'll know it! If you are having occasional high sugars that trip things off, I find the OTC stuff works fine. If you have ongoing high sugars, it sounds like you would want to get a prescription.

Whenever I take antibiotics, I'm plagued by our favorite kind of infection. There is a pill, you take just one, and in a few days everything's gone. But it's prescription; I can just call my doctor's office, ask for it, and they fax the order to the pharmacy.

If blood sugars are too high there is definitely a correlation with yeast infections especially in women. Getting blood sugar down will help prevent recurrent yeast infections, but it may take an antifungal to knock it down initially. You can try the over the counter antifungals, but in my experience it just prolongs the time I have to live with symptoms and the expense of treating it because eventually I end up going to a doctor and paying for the antifungal prescription AFTER I spent the time and money on the OTC. Fortunately I have a very understanding MD who responds promptly with antifungal script and no lectures about my sugars. This has happened three times in my thirty year "career" of being a diabetic.Best wishes.

I definitely had problems with them when I was first diagnosed and even before I knew I was a diabetic. Once I got my sugar under control they went away and I have not had one in the 13 years that I have been a diabetic. Good luck.

Hi, I am new here, in fact just now. I hope someone can tell you, because I have a bad yeast infection. I have Type 2 diabetes and I was diagnosed 2 years ago. It has been extremely difficult for me. I don't have anyone in my life to share problems with or discuss things with. I am so glad I found this place. I hope you didn't get mad for me talking to you since I don't know the answer to your questions.
