I have had diabetes for about 8 years. Ialso have been unemployed for a while. No insuranse and can't afford testing stripes. I have an infection on my ankles an my left foot is swollen. My doctor calls it trauma itch. Does any one know an inexpensive way to cure itching? Also why are testing stripes so expensive?

You refer to an infection—you need antibiotics if the skin is infected. The Eucerin cream for itchy skin helped me when I had a rash and kept wanting to scratch it.

CVS pharmacy (I don't know if you have this chain of pharmacy near you) have a test strip and meter that is relatively inexpensive.
As for the itch… occasionally I will get that terrible itch on my calves and shins. It mimics dry skin feeling. I went to my podiatrist and he sent me to Sams Club for a large over the counter bottle of AmLactin moisturizing Lotion. It moisturizes and softens rough dry skin. And with me…that reduced the itch to none at all.
Hope this helps…but remember as with any advice you get from anyone on this or any other site…Use common sense and above all…consult your own physician who knows your specific needs.
