I'm brand new here. I'm in a bit of a puzzle over 'double diet' conflicts. I have Type II Diabetes, plus I'm supposed to 'also' be on a heart healthy diet, due to recent congestive heart failure and subsequent bypass surgery. How are the two diets different, in conflict, and how do I combine the two even reasonably equally??? It all boggles my mind.

Thank you all, for your kind response and information. I will certainly have a look-see at that web site you've recommended. I look forward to participating more in this community. I doubt I will have much in the way of advice to offer from myself to anyone, and will likely be one to be doing all the asking. I know I will certainly be appreciating the friendships and communications!!

Hi, Paparon , I know how you feel,Ifelt the same way I have multi situations too, But I Like you have found this site with lots of good people to help , I,ve found sticking with the real foods for me mostly beans and greens are the best , I especially liked the discussion about eggs and going to add a few a week to my diet. When I start thinking about the food I miss , I think about John the Baptist , locust and wild honey, and thank God for beans and greens lol .

Hi PapaRon ,

I'm sorry to hear that you are in double trouble now but I'm thinking that diabetic diet is also good for heart health.Of course I'm not an expert but diabetics already eat low-fat , low cholesterol and controlled carbs.I don't know what else can be offered.Fresh fruits are always good and all the colourful vegetables as well.Do you have cholesterol problems? Hope you don't but I strickly recommend you to use extra virgin olive oil and consume olives.Do you know they reduce LDL and raise up HDL.
Do not worry.I trust no big change will happen.I will let you know if I hear more .

Take care.

There is a web site called one touch gold that is for diabetics. If I remember right it was sent to me along with my testing meter, tho I wont swear to it.It will set you up with information you furnish them a healthy diet that should cover both ailments. My dr looked it over and said it looked good to her.It will also give youmenues for each week and break the menues down and do a shopping list so you will know exactly what to by.Also has diabetic tips from John Hopkins Hospital.
