Hi Everyone,

Just need a reality check here. Since being diagnosed with diabetes in May 08 I have tried my best to keep my sugars low. I have a 30 day average of 130, I have lost 25 pounds and continue to walk 2 miles a day and I eat NO sugar unless its in fruit. I am SO upset though if after I eat and I check my BG two hours later and its 158..even though that is considered in normal range??? Am I being too hard on myself?? What is considered "doing well"??? I have an appointment on Friday with my doctor and I am scared that she is going to give me bad news… I crazy??

Thanks really have given me some wonderful advice so far…I value your guidance and friendship.

HI! Just a thought - if you are actually SCARED of your doctor's reaction, you may need a different doctor. We all want to do well, but no one should continue to see a physician unless they feel they are supported and valued. So after you see your doctor, then ask yourself if you are really pleased to talk to him/her or if she/he 'bawls' you out. Again - a physician should support a diabetic, not make them fearful. Hope this is helpful, Lin

I heard once that if you wonder whether or not you're crazy, it's a sure sign that you are not. Those who don't think they're crazy, may very well be. So to answer your question, my first reaction is "No you're not". I wish I had your problem. My numbers are not as good are yours and I can't lose weight. I can't exercise either, so again, I wish I had your problem. Losing 25 lbs would be the best present I could give my doctor.

Hi Ginette,

Thanks for making me smile..I think that you are right..I hope that my doctor is happy with my progress…I really have been trying. Sorry that you can't exercise or lose weight…that stinks. I am here for you if you ever need to talk..or if you think that you might be slightly crazy too…:) Have a great day.

Many of us even with our best efforts cannot keep things "perfect". There could be others things besides what your eating that can cause higher levels. Stress for instance can cause mine to go up or down. So take a look at other things going on in your life at the moment. Are you stressed, not feeling well due to a cold, or whatever.
Do not be worried about your doctor visit. worrying will not change the outcome of what they will tell you…LOL
Remember, we are all here for you, and you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I was just wondering, you say you lost 25lbs,was that just since May? If it is your probably losing weight to fast, that could be one thing,Are you eating enough? I know if your overweight the first thought is to lose weight which is good but at a slow pace, then you will be more likely to keep it off.

Hi Liz,

Yes it has been since I was diagnosed May 30 2008. I actually just don't feel as hungry as I used to be and I think thats due to the Metformin?? I don't feel unhealthy…I feel great really. I see my doctor on Friday, so maybe I can fine tune some things with her…thanks for your advice…I really appreicate the friendship.

Hi John,

Thank you so much for your reply..I really value your advice and friendship. I have been more stressed at work lately…so maybe that is playing a part. I have a boss who contributes to my craziness..I am just not sure how to not get stressed about the stupid things he does. Any suggestions?? I know I am wound a little tighly..and I try not to get this way…I think I just need to really remember to breathe. Thanks for the advice for the doctor's office..its just the last time I was there is when I found out I was T2..I just hope I have some better news this time.

Thanks again for being such a wonderful friend…to all of us.
