I want to say thank you to all the veterans. Today is a special day for me. Yes, you guessed it, I am a veteran. I served twenty years in research and development and retired as an officer and a gentleman. I used my experience and clearances to become a contractor. I had a wonderful career.
I pause today to remember a number of my collegues who did not get to retire. The vietnam war took its toal. If you get a chance, watch some of the memorials on TV today.

God bless you veterans, whether you're active duty, retired or reserves and no matter what branch you served/serve in. I can not thank you enough for all you are doing or have done for all of us. Also thank your families for the sacrifices they go through while you serve.

It is through your selfless act of defending our country that I am able to enjoy the freedom and life I live.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Sincerely and respectfully,

Thank you fred, It is nice to hear a thank you from people who care. I am also a viet nam vet. It just saddens me that some people never cared when we came back home after serving our time in vietnam. Iam glad that this has changed since the gulf war and the two newest ones today Thank you fred for your service to our country and all veterans who have served and did their duty and to those who give their life to defend this country

I was so young when that all happened but I remember how the Vietnam vets were treated when they returned and it shamed me then and now.

A while ago, I ran into some Vietnam vets at a diner. I approached them and asked them," Excuse me, but did you serve in the Vietnam conflict?"

At first they were a little surprised. They looked a little apprehensive but one of them answered, "Yes, we certainly did."

"I just want to thank you for serving in Vietnam. I am so ashamed of how you were treated when you returned. It would be my honor and privilege to shake your hand." I choked up as I spoke to them. One of them took my out stretched hand and said, "Thank you ma'am that means more to us then you know."

What happened all those years ago was a travesty. And I know it's a little late for this, but thank you Alan.

With much gratitude,

A Veteran—whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve—is someone who at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to: 'The United States of America', for an amount of 'up to, and including his or her life.'" Please honor him or her accordingly. In God… we trust… God bless each and every veteran, past, present, and future;a huge "thank you" to you all.

Happy Veterans Day to all. Thank you for protecting the country, our freedom, me and mine. Thank you wives for supporting you husbands and children for supporting your parents who have and are serving.

My husband served in the Air Force during the Nam era, stationed in Holland. My father was a PFC in the Army during WWII. On Veteran's Day 2003, one of our US Congressmen finally gave my father ALL of the medals he earned from WWII that he hadn't received, had his name put in the Congressional Record for the House of Representatives on Nov 19, 2003 with thanks for his service.

For his birthday that year, I had the medals and program from the ceremony at the American Legion Hall (in Boulder City, NV) and a copy of the Congressional Record framed for him. I am proud to say it hangs in my home. Among the medals are a Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman, Marksmanship Badge, Good Conduct, Victory WWII, American Campaign, European Campaign, Army of Occupation (Germany) and Honorable Service. He is laid to rest at the VA Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. I love and miss you daddy.

Thank you for honoring him. He needs to be honored. Like many service people he has probably known moments of sheer terror defending his country and his buddies. Moments we can not imagine. He desereved a life time of honor. Thanks for pushing congress.

I wish you a Happy Veterans day. I am a Marine brat. My father served 20 years in the Marine Corps. One uncle was in the Army and my other two uncles served in the Navy. My husband's father served in the Navy for 23 years and my husbands step-father was in the Army. So I am surrounded by veterans and loving every minute of it. Thank God for you and all veterans who have served are serving or will serve. Without you brave souls we would not be able to have our freedoms we love so much. THANK YOU

I served two years in Viet Nam. Never was really for the war, but just wanted to do my duty and serve my country. I am not in favor of the current wars we are involved in, but I support the troops there who are doing their duty. I want to acknowledge all who served.
